Just another day in paradise....

Saturday, July 28, 2012
Our vacation was really good this year but we did have some minor snafu's such as migraines (poor Harry) and an earache and doctor visit (Kate) and some rainy weather.  I guess not every vacation can be perfect.  But this particular day....well, it looked pretty perfect as I was going through my photos....

I love it!!
Kate has sand on her face.
Kate and Harry were body surfing (and laughing and having so much fun together) too but I did not get a decent shot of it. This is the best I got....

Harry LOVES catching crabs and little fish....

He always releases them though.

We found a bunch of these beautiful baby sand dollars.
They were very fragile though and many broke on their way back to our place.
 A few did survive though.

Will and Dave relaxed in the tubes.  I was dodging small waves with my good camera in the ocean and Will would not cooperate by looking at me.  I hate that I cut Dave's leg off...

At the end of this beautiful day, we even got to enjoy a night out sans kiddos.
Will watched all the kids while we had one of our favorite meals at Cafe 30A.
We LOVE it there!!

We were being silly and doing a "prom pose."

Harry took these and he caught a little sunflare here...

You can see that Dave and I are the short  petite ones in our family.

    1. Deidra,

The green dress is form GAP. My sandals are Jack Rogers. Kate's swimsuit was from Old Navy. I think I paid $6 for it!

    2. Here is a link to the GAP dress. It is on sale now for $34.99:)

    3. One more thing Deidra.... The dress runs a little big. I am usually a 2 (sometimes a 4 because of my chest) but this is an XS.

    1. Brandi,

This is Seagrove Beach. it is just outside of Seaside and off of 30A in FLA. We love it there. There is a string of beautiful small each communities, Grayton Beach, Santa Rosa, Watercolor, Seaside, Seagrove, Alys Beach and Rosemary. They are quaint and gorgeous with fabulous shops and restaurants. We love it there.

  6. Hi, I'm a first time commenter but a long time reader! Your beach pics are just perfect and you have the most adorable family! My husband and I have never visited Seaside, but your lovely photos have us convinced we need to try it out! (we just returned from Maui and didn't get in enough beach time, I guess)

Can you give any recommendations on where to stay in Seaside, on the beach? I'm picky and would like something clean and modern with a great beach feel!

    Thanks so much!

    1. Hi Cristi,

Thank you for commenting. I love to "meet" readers. We always rent a large house for my family and my sister's family to share. We are always on the first block so we can usually see the ocean from a balcony. But we have never been able to get a house sitting directly on the beach as they are booked way in advance for the peak season. Plus they are often bigger and more expensive than what we want.

In our cul de sac, there is a community pool one house down which we also enjoy. So, that has been my only experience BUT I have seen several new chic, modern place that have popped up in Seagrove and Rosemary. And I will tell you this.... after mid August all the rental prices drop by 50%. We used to go in the end of August for that very reason but now my oldest starts hugh school in mid August so we cannot do that.

Also "I know" our little community that we stay in well enough that i can now use VRBO to pick our rental.

      Hope that helps a little.

    2. Kim, thanks for your prompt reply and for all the rental information! I really appreciate it!

It was nice to finally "meet" you! I promise not to be a shy reader in the future! *wink*

      Thanks again,
      Cristi

    1. Thank you Laura. You are sweet. I do not feel old enough to have a high schooler either!! And the thing is, I was not really young when I had him so I cannot pretend that is the case. I am sure I will look plenty old when Kate is finally in high school.

  10. Beautiful photos! Glad you had such a nice time. The color of the water is incredible! I don't know where you were but the ocean in Massachusetts looks nothing like that. Gorgeous!

  11. Thank you Wendy! I grew up in PA and the Jersey beaches did not look like this either:) That is one of the many reasons we love it there.

  12. Haha...love the prom pose!! Your sister is very pretty...you two resemble each other in some ways, but look so different in others! Will looks so grown up and Harry and Kate look like they are having a blast! Can see why the beach is your happy place :)

  18. Kim, I have been thinking about you! Ever since your post on the baseball photo, I have been wondering if you would ever consider doing a photography workshop and/or post processing workshop? I think your photos are one of my favorite things that keep me coming back to your blog and I'm sure others feel the same! Even though I know you use other photographer's actions, someone like me would still be very interested to see your process! From the camera, to the organization, to the post processing! Please consider it!

  19. Hi Kim! I have been reading 3 Peanuts for around 3 years I think, but never commented before. I wanted to comment on this post to say that my fiance and I saw y'all at Seaside! We were sat at the table next to you in the Smiling Fish Cafe one lunch time. I had to look over a couple times because I couldn't believe it was y'all. What a weird coincidence! It's good to read that you had such a great time, we did too, but definitely got a little bummed out about the rain. We hit the Silver Sands mall those days! I tell you what, I'm really missing The Meltdown on 30A! Have you ever been there?

    1. Chloe,

What a small world! We did eat lunch on the first day at the Smiling Fish. My sister and I split the yummy salmon BLT wrap. It was so good. You should have said hello to us. Believe it or not, that happens to us quite a bit and I always enjoy meeting new people (and the kids do too). I hope you and your fiance had a great trip. I have not tried the meltdown yet as there was a really long line the time I wanted to try it but I sure do love a good grilled cheese. Thank you for saying hello and if you should see us next year, say hi!!!!
