My "can-do" girl {Sunday Snapshot}

Sunday, September 5, 2010

{warning~ there are A LOT of photos in this post~it's my scrapbook}

I got some great shots of Kate at the beach two weeks ago and I have not had time to post them....so I thought she could be my Sunday Snapshot this week.

could she be any cuter?

Kate sure can strike a pose for the camera....

But one of the things I love the best about Kate is her "can-do" attitude. This girl does not give up. Whether it is learning to swim and dive, play a song on the piano, make her bed, hula hoop, braid hair or learning to tie a shoe (Yes, she can! See below!) ...she practices and practices until she gets it. She has incredible determination (and it is the good kind;)

A friend loves at all times

Proverbs 17:17

I have been abundantly blessed in friendship throughout my life. I still have friends that I keep in touch with from when I was Kate's age (hello Stacy and Trish!). I still have friends from grade school, high school, college, grad school, work, having babies, moving around, Virginia (Hi Bagel and Tessa!), church, Mom's groups (hello Staci!) etc. In fact, a few Christmas cards each year are mailed internationally.

What amazes me though is that God continues to bless me with new friends all the time. I have only known Di and Jennifer for a few years (about 3 or more) but they have become such dear friends to me. I feel like I have known them all my life. Our days at the beach were so easy. We only put make-up on for the one night we went out (I think). We could be completely at ease with one another. They saw me for all of my uptight and neurotic self and I saw all of their fun and laid back ways. They make me want to be a better person. We had some deep and long talks and they inspired me.

(please keep in mind that we were up til the wee hours of the morning talking for a few nights in a row~so we might look a bit tired;)

Allgulfshores

So today I feel thankful for all of my friends...old and new.

I am also thankful to Jen's parents, Ralph and Linda. Di and I kind of got to know Jen's parents through the supportive and loving messages they left for Jen and her family while traveling to China to get Wesleigh. They were kind enough to come to the beach to meet the girls (and me and Di too). The girls all loved "Maw Maw and Paw Paw". Kate especially took a real liking to Jen's Dad. Unfortunately, Kate does not have a grandpa and her whole face lit up when he showered her with attention. Kate had a blast with them both. And we Moms got to go out and have a nice meal and a real conversation (uninterrupted, no less!) I am just so sad I did not get a photo of Linda with all the girls!

Five Blessings {Sunday Snapshot}

Sunday, August 29, 2010

I was lucky enough to spend a few days this week at the beach with two incredibly beautiful women (both inside and out) and their daughters. Our friendships blossomed through Chinese adoption, our blogs and our faith.

It was an honor getting to know these girls better this week. They are all fantastic girls with huge hearts for God. So here is my little snapshot of each from youngest to oldest....

Wssunsnap

Wesleigh Jane

(aka the teacup and peanut)

Wesleigh is sweet, sweet, sweet. She is so petite and has an easy going and gentle nature (just like her Mama). She is also a little flirty which is so endearing. She also has about the prettiest eyelashes I have ever seen!

Rusunsnap

Ruby Mei

Ruby is full of life with a smile that could light up a room. She is passionate and full of joy. I love her spirit! As I told her Mommy, she lives out loud (wish I could be more like her). Life is not going to pass her by because she grabs it by the horns. She is also stunningly gorgeous!

Katesunsnap
Kate Emerson

It is hard for me to write about the blessings of my own daughter...but Kate definitely has a good sense of humor. She gets silly (and make LOTS of silly faces for the camera...you'll see those too). The other Moms told me she has great manners and that is nice to hear. I adore her dimples:)

Siennasunsnap
Sienna Grace

This little lady blew me away. She is brilliant. She has only been home from China for six months and her language skills are phenomenal. She is also extraordinarily compassionate (like her Mama). I am not sure I have seen a little one be so other centered. I loved getting to know Sienna as I prayed for her for so long before she came into Di's life.

Ainssunsnap
Ainsley Katherine

Ainsley is a mature, fun, and extremely helpful girl. She has beautiful manners and helped us Moms so much with the little ones. She was a great role model and they all looked up to her. She invented all sorts of clever games to keep them occupied and rose to the occasion to help us anytime we asked. I think she has a true gift for taking care of children. I hope Kate grows up to be like Ainsley!

I have such a soft spot in my heart for each of these girls. They are all so different but all so wonderful.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalm 139:14

(We all shared photos so Jen and Di took some of these too. They are both great photographers. In fact, I think I took the fewest photos.)

"the sisters"

Thursday, August 26, 2010

We Moms were up til 1:30 am talking and laughing and we are tired.

The girls are all getting along beautifully...

My creation

Kate calls all the girls "the sisters."

Ainsley is the sweetest Big sister. All the little girls adore her. We Moms love her too.

Our internet has been very spotty so that is why I am only posting these few mosaics. We have taken TONS of photos. Now I need to let Jen or Di plug in. We are all sharing one internet cord:)

We're here!

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Jen and Wesleigh are at the airport picking up Di and the girls (we would not all fit in one vehicle). But Jen and I arrived last night and are already having a great time. Kate and Wesleigh have become fast friends. And Kate has had fun exploring the beach and the pool while they are at the airport....

We even caught a hermit crab. We let him go back to swim and dig with his friends.

Kate has become a little fish and she loves swimming and diving down under the water for things.

Meanwhile back at home, the boys had a good first day of school. Harry got the teacher he really wanted and he is very happy.

(I was at home to send them off on their first day and get the obligatory photos).

This morning I texted Dave the GORGEOUS view from Jen's beach condo and he promptly texted me back a photo of the view from our front door. He cracks me up!

ALL the girls will be in the next post:)
