I am on Day 3 of Ani's Fat Blast Program. For the first 3 days all of your meals are smoothies and blended soups. In the morning there are two fruit smoothies. One has nuts in it for protein and the other usually has greens in it with fruit. Lunch and dinner are blended vegetable soups. You can eat them hot or cold. I am using my blender 5 times a day (it is just a regular blender not a vitamix). This first phase is designed to cleanse and rest your digestive system. All of the soups and smoothies have been perfectly palatable and some have been very good. Nothing has been awful so far. She includes specific ingredients that blast fat and rev up your metabolism which is what I am trying to do (with exercise too). So far, it has not been too bad. This program seems very nutrionally sound and balanced and I have spent a lot of time with nutritionists and researching nutrition over the years for the health conditions Harry and I had.
Tomorrow, I start the day with a smoothie again but I have a big salad (very specific ingredients) dinner is soups again and soups and smoothies are snacks. Also on this plan a snack can be a handful of almonds (raw) or 1/2 an avocado (which I LOVE).
I have been getting up about 6:40 and doing my step aerobic workout before I need to get the kids to VBS this week and it is working great.
I have had a slight headache mid afternoon but I usually make a blended soup or have a big glass water with lemon. Yesterday, I was at a friend's house and she had cupcakes and I kind of wanted one but the temptation passed quickly.
I am doing this eating plan as a jump start because I needed discipline with my eating. It is hard for me to "watch" what I eat. I kind of tend to eat really healthy or slide into unhealthy fast. I can be an all in or all out kinda gal.
I have another post coming this afternoon...
Kim, I am loving your post on weight loss. I have lost a total of 20 pounds over the past year and a bit, but I need to buckle down and lose the last 10-15 pounds. I have been stalling for a while, but I have decided that I deserve to continue to get healthier. Thank you for the inspiration ...
ReplyDeleteGood for yoU! Will be checking out Ani's Fast Blast too!! Have a few stubborn pounds that don't seem to want to hit the road! :)
ReplyDeleteI think I might give this a try. I can do anything for 15 days, right! Have you done this diet before? I have been doing Bikram yoga and love it. But, I need to change my diet to get rid of these extra pounds.
ReplyDeleteI just invested in a GOOD blender LAST NIGHT and bought lots of fruit to begin making smoothies. Would love to know what type fruit you use and also, when you say "the other has "greens" in it", what type "greens" do you use? I'm already liking the way I feel and how my body is slowly starting to respond. Along w/Zumba and your daily post, I'm getting more and more excited!!!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you're doing great! I'm totally an all in or all out kind of girl, too! My husband and I started last week with a trainer. We are doing a 'healthy eating' plan too, but it doesn't sound as specific as yours. I'm so glad that you're blogging about this since I'm going to be going through it at the same time! PS - I'm small framed too. I have always felt like gaining 5 pounds for a smaller person really looks like 10 (in my case, at least)! Good Luck & congratulations on a great first week!
ReplyDeleteI am an all or nothing girl too! Thanks for this!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I did a cleanse a couple of years ago and it was great. I knew it was working when I was CRAVING a banana (instead of fries!).
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
I am recovering from a MONSTER migraine yesterday and today still feel out of it. I really focus on eating all of my alkaline foods instead of acidic and am sticking with raw foods.
Summer stinks since I can smell my next door neighbors who seem to grill burgers every.single.night!
:)
You are an inspiration!! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good way to cleanse your body as a jump start! I just started my calorie counting, operation lose 20 pounds today!
ReplyDeletegreat Kim! My hat is off to you!
ReplyDeleteI loved the graduation posts. You are such a sweet Mom. REALLY!

Harry's emotions are so understandable. Great friends are such a treasure. Of course, he will make NEW friends as he gets older, but its still something so special about those first friends you discover in elementary school. I still have a close bond w/two of the "girls" I met back in elementary over 40plus years! We started out in Kindergarten together and even graduated from HS together! One now resides in California and the other in Atlanta! We get together every other year for our GIRLS WEEKEND and we STILL to this day reminisce about the days at W.O Elementary. We can still remember MOST of the teachers, the principal and even the girl who always had the coolest pencil holder case!! LOL!! To this day, the smell of crayons and fresh unsharpened pencils catapult me back to those days! Wishing Harry a great summer filled w/great memories of WONDERFUL friends!
