Diet/Exercise Update

Thursday, June 21, 2012
I feel silly posting about this but several of you have asked me to keep you updated...As for that diet, it was tough.  I followed it to the letter for 10 days and then did a modified version for the last 4-5 days. And I really did not lose any significant weight.  I had been down 3 pounds at one point but when I weighed myself at the end, I was the same.  I was terribly disappointed in that because it was very hard work.  However, I did lose inches for sure.  My stomach is much flatter and my clothes fit completely differently.  I can now wear some shorts/jeans that were too tight a few weeks ago so I guess that is more important than the numbers on the scale.

I am not sure how I feel about the diet.  It did have many good sides.  My skin is really good right now (not sure it will last).  A friend even complimented how good my skin looked and asked me what i was doing.  The whites of my eyes are brighter.  I think the diet was very cleansing.  While I was doing it, my dark circles under were gone (they are back a bit).  So, overall I am sure eating raw and vegan for 10 days was good for me.  It made me very disciplined. I learned a lot and will continue with some of the recipes and smoothies.  It changed my body quickly to make me and keep me motivated to lose weight and get in shape.

My confidence is up regarding my body too.  I bought (on sale) and wore these strapless dresses which I would not have done 3 weeks ago.  In fact, I never wore strapless until last week!

This one is my favorite...LOVE it!

But the biggest change is that I am working out a lot.  I am doing step aerobics at home and weights at the gym.  Yesterday, I lifted over 7,000 lbs which for a little weakling like me is good. I did a Zumba class (I am so not a dancer!). Surprisingly, I am enjoying exercising and really enjoying the changes I see in my body.  I am getting fit and toned.  So, I think the reason the scale did not move is that I am gaining muscle which I needed to do.  At least I hope that is the case.

  2. Rock it out Kim!
I started Raspberry Ketones and have not noticed a difference.
I am cutting out refined carbs (not sure if that's the word but breads, crackers, pita chips, pasta, etc). I know for a fact that will help me shed my 5 pounds that I want to lose. It sounds so vain, but 5 pounds is a big deal for me!
Glad you are wearing strapless dresses! It opens a whole new world.

  5. Kim you are gonna LOVE Zumba!! I have been in it for a couple of months and I definitely see the inches! I met one an old classmate and she was always on the "heavy" side and she looked AMAZING!! She had been in ZUMBA since Nov 2011 and the pounds fell off. Of course, her eating habits changed as well. It was a joy to listen to the testimonies of my ZUMBA-MATES who ALL say they have NEVER had so much fun "losing weight"! I LOVE the INSTRUCTOR and it's such an encouraging group of ladies that I take the class with! I look forward to Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays! I usually start the class @ 5:30 and stay until 8:00!! I even got my 22yr old to join me! She thought it was just a "cutesy dance" class for OLD LADIES!!! Ha!!! Mommay showed her up!! We have ALL age ladies, in a different array of sizes. They are there for many reasons but we all have one goal in mind! TO STAY FIT~~I have fit in pants that I had banished to the "ain't gon' happen" pile!! I like seeing how my body is responding, how my eathing habits has changed and how much more energy I have. I even come home thru the door dancing! I splurged and bought me a pair of COWBOY BOOTS that were begging to be worn w/a cute spaghetti strap summer dress! I hadnt' ventured to strapless yet, you gotta have BOOBS to hold something like that up! Now that's a WHOLE OTHER POST and not to mention a whole lot more money!!!

  8. Thank you for sharing, Kim! This is the second inspiring get-fit post I've read today. Did you see Paige's daughter over at simple thoughts? She looks awesome, and I am sure you do, too, if you are into strapless dresses! Yay hooray!

Might dangle that chevron maxi dress in the two blues as a reward to finally get to my goal weight. GAH! Thanks for the motivation!

    1. Yes Paige...one of the reasons I modified the diet is that I was not being vey nice t my family. That was really hard. I felt terribly guilty.
