So far, so good with the new dog! He is SO sweet and the dogs get along GREAT!!! The only problem has been coming up with a good name for him. The pet foster lady was calling him Snickers (short for Snickerdoodle). But he does not know that name at all and does not respond to it. So, while I think that is an okay name, it is a little cutesy for me. So, the family is pressuring me BIG time to settle on a name. If we plan to name him this is the time.
Scout is a female and named after the young girl character in To Kill a Mockingbird.
Some names we like for our new male dog are Ollie or Oliver, Frisco, Cooper, Noble, Sterling, Louie, Spunky.... ANY SUGGESTIONS? Please throw any names you like into the comments:)
I get final decision making power but I am not sure the perfect name has come along just yet. So PLEASE suggest one. I am all ears. Here are some photos. I have yet to get a really good one as he gets up and walks away once I get the camera out. I need to train him.
See, he doesn't really like the camera yet:)
I like "Romeo" and I think it suits him. He's adorable! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHow about "Sawyer" from Tom Sawyer. Also Riley or Ranger are cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Jem? Scout's older brother from To Kill A Mocking bird (:
ReplyDeleteHE is so adorable. I like Oliver, but here are a few that popped into my head Bennett(Ben) and then some from novels to go with Scout:
ReplyDeleteJem or Atticus(but I am not too partial to those...)
Pip(Great Expectations)
Huck(Huckleberry Finn)
Heath(Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights)
Eddie(Edward from Jane Eyre)
Charles or Charlie(Pride and Prejudice)
Love the name game - can't wait till Evan and I get to pick ones out!! Blessings! Ashley
How about Astro...like the MLB team?
ReplyDeletePip, Milo, Finn, Finch, Winnie, Sawyer, Arthur...keeping with the book character theme.
ReplyDeleteSterling!
ReplyDeleteLove your new addition!!
Hugs,
DI
Sam!
ReplyDeleteScout & Sam :)
I will keep thinking. In the meantime - can you take some more pictures of Kate in that Tea Collection dress?? Is it casual? I was having a hard time figuring out if I liked the GIRL WEARING the dress in the catalog or if I actually liked the dress :-)
it looks cute on Kate!
atticus. or jem. or radley. or boo, for that matter.
ReplyDeleteall of the above being To Kill A Mockingbird characters
I like Winston...and also Beau
ReplyDeleteBoo Radley! Can go by Boo or Radley or Rad:)
ReplyDeleteYou don't want to go with the predictable choice of another character in To Kill a Mockingbird?
ReplyDeleteJem?
Boo?
Dill?
Atticus?
Can't wait to see what you name the little guy :)
I think Scooter and Scout sounds really cute together :) I know you'll find the perfect name for such an adorable (and lucky) pup!
ReplyDeleteHow about "Jem" after Scout Finch's brother? Or Dill or Boo? Or even Atticus? (My FAVORITE book, btw.) :)
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for Oliver- Ollie for short. Or Charlie- I'm big on a person name for a dog (although I'm voting against Cooper because that's my little persons name!)
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
How about Harper.... in honor of Harper Lee! Obviously Harper Lee is a female, but I think the name would work for a male.
ReplyDeleteShe lives in an assisted living home in Monroeville,Al. She wrote one of the best books EVER in my opinion.
OR ....Truman
Harper and Truman Capote were good friends!
My cousins have a puppy that looks somewhat like him and theirs is called Pogo. I like your option of Frisco or maybe Friso or Rufus or Sammie or Simpson?
ReplyDeleteIf you want something with a little more meaning (like Scout's name), how about Tuck (Tuck Everlasting), Sirius or Dobby or Cedric or Dudley or Argus or Flitwick or Fudge or Lumos (Harry Potter), Asland (Lion, Witch, Wardrobe), Gil/Gilbert (Anne of GG), Westing/Westley (Westing Game), Huck (Huckleberry Finn), Milton (Of Mice and Men), Mingo or Squire or Walt (Redwall), Willie and/or Wonka, or Boo ;) ?
Maybe ask one of the peanuts for their favorite book character.
He's such a cutie! Sterling is one of my favorite male names but he looks like an Ollie or Max to me.
ReplyDeleteHe is really cute! I know this is not a name suggestion, but he really looks like the dragon Falcor on Neverending Story. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you wanted to stick with the "To Kill A Mocking Bird" theme you could go with Boo or Jem, Atticus is cute but it doesn't roll off the tongue when calling for the dog to come.
ReplyDeleteLove THAT name!!! heh heh heh
ReplyDeleteI vote for Snick.
Scout and Snick. Not cute either!
Best,
Snick :)
Sunshine 9 1/2 Viet Nam

I'd stick to a literary pattern and use another name from To Kill a Mockingbird - he looks like a Jem to me :) And out of the choices you posted, I like Oliver/Ollie the best :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling little guy!
ReplyDeleteI love old people names for pets, many like the ones you listed. Winston, Walter, Willie, Fred, Clarence, Floyd, Clyde, Theo, Herman, Milton...
I like Cooper! But I think Radley would be cute too (as in boo radley) but maybe a bit too 'match-y'
ReplyDelete-Emily
Congratulations on your newest addition! He is a cutie! He looks like a "Gus" to me.
ReplyDelete-Stephanie J.

ReplyDeleteOh the dilemma. We have a male maltese and it took awhile to come up with his name.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Toby, Sebastian, Bailey, Duke, Charlie, Winston.
so fun...can't wait for the big reveal!

ReplyDeleteI like Cooper, or Oliver or Tucker!
ReplyDeleteMy husband has always wanted a dog named Devo... I like these other suggestions better though!
ReplyDeleteIf you wanted to go all out you could name him Jem {Scout in to Kill a Mockingbird's big brother.}
ReplyDeleteI also like Olive, Cooper, Noble, or maybe Atticus, Boo, Dill {if you are feeling that To Kill a Mockingbird thing} (:
Hi Kim, I never leave a comment but I love your blog. You are an amazing mom... with an amazing family. I love naming pets. How about Sherlock or Shakespere or Clark? Hamlet? Trey? I could seriously go all day long. We plan on naming our next dog either Kevin or Dale. Makes us laugh when dogs have "human" names. Right now we have Hannah Montana (not my naming choice... but it works for her) and Dakota... he came with a name. Can't wait to name our own fur babies one day! Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe added Bentley to our family this summer. I thought it would be cute to have both of our English Bulldogs names start with the same first letter. However, at times I get a little tongue tied when I'm calling them ... Bozely and Bentley.
ReplyDeleteIs today your special day? If so, we share the same birthday. Enjoy!
Jo
What about Baxter! :) He is too cute!
ReplyDeleteFinn or piper?
ReplyDeleteThe new dog is so cute! So glad he is fitting into your family. I really love your home and was hoping you would answer a couple of questions for me. I was looking at the pictures of your office, which is beautiful. I love the idea of having the drapes flank the windows with the drapes in between the windows as well. I was curious how wide is that window? Also how many widths of fabric are in each panel and if they are pleated how so? Goblet or pinch pleat? I know that you are busy with your sweet family so a quick answer would be wonderful. My email is jfm722@aol.com. Thanks for any help. Jen
ReplyDeleteHere are some ideas:
ReplyDeleteDicken...named after the character in the "Secret Garden" who could talk to animals. Stuart...after the mouse in "Stuart Little". Lincoln...a great name for a small dog with a lot of history and character.
How about Asher, Braxton, or Brody
ReplyDeleteHe looks like an Oliver to me!
ReplyDeleteI like: Toby
ReplyDeleteBrody
Maxwell
Sebastian
Jack
Kingston
Ebenezer, Eb or Nezer for short...he looks a little cranky in the last picture, just like E. Scrooge. :)
ReplyDeleteYou know....he looks rather sophisticated to me so no cutesy names. I mean seriously...look how long his legs are!
ReplyDeleteI like Sterling too or maybe Jasper???
A lovely schinoddle and I suggest Charlie , congratulations to the adoption and I am quite sure this dog will give you lots and lots of good moments and much love .

ReplyDeleteI like Sterling or Snowball. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have a beagle named Winston, we also call him Winnie. Our other dog is named Sophie.
