When these fine folks below (who are Harry's Godparents and our very dear friends) come to town, we tend to drop everything and just socialize with them and other mutual friends.
Their boys are getting so big (they are the same ages as my boys)! I am not sure what they are feeding them up in Canada!!! We have known them since they were infants and I have the bathtub photos to prove it;)
The adults. This was from a previous visit as we did not get a shot from this one.
And sociclaize we did. They came into town last week and we had a blast with them. We went out for Mexican food, the Moms went to a fashion show, the kids played, we all went to Harry's baseball game. But the best night was last Thursday. My friend, Cathy came over around 4:30 and wanted to sit out front and have a cocktail (gin and tonic). The next thing we knew our neighbors were walking across the street with two bottles of wine and some glasses. People just kept coming and before we knew it there were 20 people (kids and adults) at our house for dinner. We laughed so hard and had such a fun time.
I am not a spontaneous person (although I am getting more so in my old age) but I thoroughly enjoyed how that night just came together. I did not enjoy my overtired kids the next day but such is life.
Here is a hint of what else we (Dave, really) have been up to....
(the yellow is frog tape) Final reveal soon.
P.S. For some reason these photos are not showing up sharp on blogger but they are on flickr and I-photo. Anyone know why?
What fun! I too am trying to learn to be more spontaneous as I age ... your Thursday night proves it is worth it!
ReplyDeleteThe photos look sharp on my end!
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,
Kim

ReplyDeleteSPONTANIETY is my new friend! I love how "unplanned" fun just comes together! Sort of SERENDIPITY w/a twist!! Having a 3yr old re-taught me that!! LOL! Love the photos (wish I knew why they came out a little blurry) but they are beautiful nonetheless!!!

I love that neighbors just migrated to your home--that is when the best memories are made. Memories we didn't even plan!! You are gonna have a fun summer!!
ReplyDeleteFrog tape? Never heard of it! Is it a Texas thing?
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back but glad you enjoyed the time off.
Kim, I just love neighborhood gatherings like the one y'all had last week. It is so much fun to host an impromptu dinner... I mean, if you subtract all of the cooking and cleaning up. *grin* But it's what I imagine small town America was like fifty (okay, sixty) years ago.
ReplyDeleteKim, sounds like a blast...I love a party...where it just happens..the weather is good everyone just comes to visit..thats so much fun and really lets you enjoy your neighbors. So glad you have enjoyed Harry GodParents! Can't wait to see the stripe on Kate's walls..they look awesome already!
