It snowed here today! I know that for most of you that is not big news BUT we very rarely get snow in this part of Texas so it is a HUGE deal when it happens. I have lived here off and on for 11 years and have only seen it snow twice. It was so exciting. I loved watching the joy on the kids faces at Harry's school...
Kate loved catching snowflakes on her tongue:)
Harry's classmates ran to the windows to see the snow!
Kate and Harry had a little snowball fight in the back yard...
I think my roses are toast now.
Daddy-O even got home from work early and joined in the fun!
Will did not slow down for me to get a photo of him in focus. They all had such a blast!
The only bad news is that we had to postpone Harry's b-day party for a week. I feel so bad. He has ALWAYS wanted an outdoor party to play sports (football, baseball, kickball) with his buddies. When we lived in Virginia, it was always too cold in December for an outdoor party. I assured him that he could have an outdoor party here this year. I told him how Daddy and I were married in December and it was 85 degrees that day. Sure enough...this fluke cold snap occurs. It is too cold and wet for his party:( Hoping for warmer weather next Saturday!
Your family is beautiful! What a fun day in the snow! We (the kids) are hoping for maybe 3-4 inches of snow tomorrow! It just brings out the kids in all of us!
ReplyDeleteYou have officially gotten more snow in Houston than we have in Detroit so far this year! We haven't gotten any (but they did get a few inches on the West side of the state today).
ReplyDeleteCute pictures! Looks like the kids had fun!
So sweet.. I hope Harry is not to bummed out about his party :(

I love the pic of Dave -- too funny! I am sorry to hear about Harry's birthday party being postponed! How are you feeling these days? I hope you have fully recovered from being sick a couple weeks ago!
ReplyDeleteAlso, what did you serve for your holiday dinner with the ladies?
How exciting! I love the video!
ReplyDeleteoops, I meant Harry, we have a Henry here I was just trying to get settled ;)!
ReplyDeleteWe are supposed to get some of your dusting here in NC tomorrow night, keeping my fingers crossed. Coincidentally, I have 9 9 year olds NOT slumbering in my basement right now for my oldest's birthday! Hope things go great for Henry next week.
ReplyDeleteYes, living in these parts, you rarely get snow. It snowed around this time last year and then a few years before that. Today was a huge deal. Our schools let out early. We loved our snow day too!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your family is having a snow blast!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that they enjoyed the great time!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRY and wishing for warmer weather next Saturday!
I even like the warmer days too!
So glad that they enjoyed a rare day though!

The video is precious. I hate he didn't get to have his party...but now he gets snow AND a party! Fun times!
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish we would get a bit of cold weather down here in So. Florida. It looks like everyone had a great time playing.
ReplyDeleteKate looks adorable trying to catch that snowflake! Would you believe it hasn't snowed yet here in CT?!
ReplyDeleteIt is so crazy that it snows when I leave Texas! lol I love the snowflake on the tongue picture...she is so darling...she makes me smile;)
ReplyDeleteWe are waiting on snow here later on today...what great pictures. I feel for Harry. Brady's b-day is 2/22 so we always have to switch things around or worry about snow! Makenna is Noel in Frosty & Rudolf at our county's playhouse this weekend. Fun, fun!
ReplyDeleteLove it!! I remember catching snowflakes on my tongue when I was a kid in KY. What fun! It was neat to see Scout even getting in on the action in the video. Looks like everyone enjoyed the special treat from heaven!
ReplyDeleteI was so jealous when I got a call from my mom bright and early, "It's snowing, it's snowing!" I was just home for Thanksgiving and hadn't been gone 2 days and I missed the snow! Needless to say, where I currently live, is just bitter cold and windy.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad all the kiddos had fun! I remember building my first snowman in Texas. Poor thing looked so sad and only stood about a foot tall but I thought he was spectacular!
Glad you are enjoying some winter fun...it is snowing outside here right now and I have to go begin the search for all of the snow clothes!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I know the kids had a blast. I still get excited when it snows here. Maybe snow today at home, but we decided to come to the beach one last time before Christmas. Nothing but cold rain here. :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment about my skirt. I think I will just KEEP it! :) I wish you could have come to the sale with me too. We would have had such fun! Too bad I won't be in the Princeton area next year....we are MOVING! I won't announce it on my blog until June though.
ReplyDeleteI Love your gorgeous pictures especially the 1st one of Kate ... so precious!
ReplyDeleteI've lived in Sacramento, CA for the past 17 years and its probably only snowed 1-2 times here too, so I know exactly what you mean!
Just look at how much fun they're having! I'm glad you guys are getting to enjoy a little bit of snow. Dave looks like he's having just as much fun as the kiddos!
ReplyDeleteGin =)
Ohmy! 85 degrees in December?! Wow, snow then is a fluke! Your poor guy!
ReplyDeleteWhat great pictures of your snow day....the kids look so cute!! The storm made it's way up here yesterday....so we got the sled out today:)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Will's party....hopefully you will have sunny skies next weekend!
BTW, I LOVE your back porch....looks so peaceful.
Hope you had a good weekend!
xo,
Lisa

ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll be back to regular Houston weather and ready for Harry's party in no time! Can't wait to see pictures from that.

ReplyDeleteCan't believe how fast the snow was coming down in Texas! Thanks for sharing the great photos - really show how excited the kids were. Blessings, Wendy
ReplyDeleteHitting you late w/a comment! LOVE YOUR SNOW PICS!!!OH BOY did we get snow here in Beaumont (we are an hour and half away from you guys) too! Bree wanted so bad to go outside and make a snowman! We got a record 2 snowfalls back to back! Last year on Dec 11 we got a LOT of snow (which is unheard of in this HUMID, HOT part of TX!!!) Bree manage to make snowballets!!! I got a few pictures of her in her leopard coat w/an umbrella standing in the drifts! She was definitely the cutest SNOW LEOPARD ever!!
