Adoption Reunion

Tuesday, April 15, 2008
I am so behind in things I want to post about but we have been very busy here.

Denise and Maggie are home! It was so wonderful and emotional at the airport. I feel incredibly blessed to have been a part of such a special life moment. I did, however, learn that I get too caught up in the emotion to concentrate on my photography in situations like that. I made them a little video slide show of the event. If you want to see it, click here.

We feel so fortunate that two new families are home from China and Kate will have two new friends in Lily and Maggie!

We had a great time at our travel group get together in Gettysburg this past weekend. My boys called it "Yetisburg" (as a joke) and they were looking for a Yeti! After the reunion, we visited some of the battlegrounds too. I'll post those photos soon.

I made this slide show for our travel group but thought I'd share it here too. I wish there were more photos of all the kiddos but as I was chasing Kate, I got many more of her. Also, my camera was on the wrong setting and about a third of my photos were out of focus. I'll do better next year !

Someone asked if our travel group was all from the same area. No, in fact we are from opposite ends of PA and another state further south. We chose a middle point and all traveled there.

  4. What a beautiful video of precious families! How amazing to be with the families you were in China with. I would love to get our travel group together but not one family is from the same city. Was that the case with your group? How did you all get it together? Hope you have a great day!

  11. Grace and I just watched your video and she said the only person she "knows" in the movie is Kate! A sure that Mommy needs to get off the blogs.

You did a great job on this video and the one for Denise. It must be so time consuming but well worth it when done.

You captured so many wonderful moments from your weekend - the hands, the feet, the polka dot bikini, the girls on the piano bench and the blue coach photos. Was that one of your boys hiding on the side. So sweet.

Glad you had a great time. What a full weekend!

  13. How fun! The only thing that I regret is that we were the only family with our agency at the time so we traveled solo. Of course, I would not have wanted to wait on other families either!

We did meet some people who adopted from the same SWI and we keep in touch but have not had a reunion yet! This has inspired me!

ps I caught a glimpse of what Jane may look like when I saw the older red head in the group!

  23. Hey Kim! I can only imagine how emotional you were for Denise and Maggie's homecoming...I cried just watching the slideshow and I don't know them! How wonderful.

Also looks like you had an absolutely fabulous time at your reunion...after ours in July, I had withdrawals for WEEKS.
Kate just glowed in all the pics - she looks so happy and healthy again - just warms my heart.

All those beautiful kids!! We are still in amazement that we brought Hudson here all the way form China. I have a great video of him in the car I am trying to load but it isn't working yet..check back later.
Give that Maggie and her mom a hug for me when you see them, we miss them!!

  27. I love Kate in her bathing suit! it cracks me up to see how long and lean she is!!!! She is ALL legs- lucky girl! Her hair looks so cute- it has really filled in- i was wanting to cut z's hair again but might let it grow a little longer and grow the bangs out with kate as an inspiration!

I think Kate looks so happy and well adjusted in these photos! I especially love the one of her on the couch with the full on smile!

  28. Ooooh, I love the video! Thanks so much for doing this! You are something else... I have not stopped moving since we returned - this is my first moment to sit down and think (blog;).

It really was a great time! Hannah climbed up while I was watching the video and let out this whoop and "Kaaaaaatee!" and she was overjoyed to keep picking herself out of the crowd:)

This weekend won't be nearly as interesting!

    Love,
    Heather
