We had a GREAT time at the Safari Park. I mentioned in my last post that I do not like this place. Perhaps I should explain.... You drive through this huge park and feed HUGE animals from the car. The feed and animal snot and spit get everywhere! I have taken the boys four times and thay LOVE it! We do have fun but I feel like both me and my car need a thorough detailing afterwards. Have I mentioned that I am a bit of a clean freak? Plus, it is really hard to drive, feed, take photos, pass the feed and protect the peanuts all at the same time (not to mention avoid running over a stubborn Llama!) Nonetheless, I put on my happy attitude and we had a BLAST! Kate was not phased at all by the Bison or the other various beasts in her face. She loved the animals. We drove through twice and then went to an old fashioned diner for milkshakes and rootbeer floats. Ssshhh--- don't tell anyone! We're not supposed to eat those!
That looks like so much fun. Brady would love it. I may have to check it out for him on our next days off from school.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time! I know your peanuts loved it. What a great mom you are and brave. How wonderful that something that cool is so close by. Hope you all have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good time with all the animals! We have one of those parks here too, but apparently the animals are just animals!! They tend to rip parts off your car!! Not so much fun :)
ReplyDeleteSpring is coming and it's in the air. Snowpants are gone, boots are gone, mitts are almost gone. Woo-hoooooooooooooooooooooo!
Have a restful weekend.
Snick :)
What fun! My boys would absolutely love doing something like this. Way to go Kim -- you definitely get a gold star on your mommy crown for this! :) I can't believe how easy-going Kate was about those animals being right in her face. Glad you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like fun! Jane would especially be fascinated with them!
ReplyDeleteI guess snot is just part of being a Mommy! Mae handed me a booger yesterday like she was handing me a crayon to put up. We had a "discussion" about Kleenex and how to use them!
Julie
I bet the peanuts had a blast. Love all the pics. The peacock is just so beautiful. Glad you endured it and had fun. I am sure having a root beer float or malt made it all worth it. :)
ReplyDeleteKim -
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a great day!
Emily would absolutely love that park. She tells anyone who will listen how much she loves animals.
Glad the stubborn llama did not get the best of you, mama!
Have a good weekend!
Heather
I think that looks like fun :D Li Li would LOVE it! OMG- LOVE IT! I am so glad we got to chat today. I love being able to catch up on all that is going on ;D I went down and read your e-mail after we got off the phone - you are the best!
ReplyDeleteLadybug hugs,
;D
I can't believe you have to drive through yourself. That would be hard. We have a place like that, but you ride on wagons. Braden and I are going Tues. for his field trip. Glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteNow you really win the prize for coolest collage!! Who knew they had a techno one! I also think you are a great mom and trooper to let those whatevertheyare camels in your car!
ReplyDeleteI've been following along for a couple weeks now and just had to post. I love the pictures, especially the one of the three peanuts backside (just precious). Your a great mom, don't know if I could handle an animal head in my car. I know my Hannah would probably have a heart attack. She can't even handle a tiny little dog. Looks like the kids had a great day with Mom, one they'll always remember.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool park! I never knew that something like that even existed. My kids would all love it. Your photos from the day are all beautiful too-like National Geograhic in your car! What fun.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteU R 2 funny!
lea
Love the pics, love the slide show and I love your narative. lol
ReplyDeleteFor someone who said it was difficult to do the many tasks at once at the park, you certainly make it look easy!
So glad you had a fun time... It looks like a blast!
I can't believe you drove thru TWICE! You are awesome.
ReplyDeleteLove all of the pictures - some of them made me laugh out loud!
Glad your third little peanut loved it as much as your first two...looks like you'll be going again!
XO
What Fun! What a trooper you are! The fact that you were looking out for lamas and still got such beautiful photographs is beyond my comprehension. I can't get good photos standing still!:D
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend Kim!
It looks like you had a great day at the Safari Park. I can't believe those crazy animals come right up to your window! I am definitely with you on the cleanliness issue!
ReplyDeleteCute pictures of the Peanuts! Kate looks adorable in denim!
Oh My Goodness...I can't believe the animals' heads come in to your car. You are a grest Mom and great sport. My kids would love the safari and the floats after!
ReplyDeleteOh my word!!! Those furry friends are IN YOUR CAR window!! yikes!!!! I'd be screaming!!! I am a bit of a "fraidy cat"! Look at sweet little Kate...she's not at all bothered by those big furry creatures joining her in the back seat of your car! Oh my Kim...you are one brave mommy...with brave peanuts!!! :) The boys are so handsome....they have beautiful eyes!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing....I am still in awe!
Hugs,
Denise
p.s. to answer your ?.... yes...I did get my camera....I chose the Olympus Evolt 510....SO far I love it! However...I have SO much to learn! The live view function on the OLY is nice for me, since I am old and cannot see! hee-hee! ;)
That does look like a place the kids would love! Personally, I would be freaking out! You are a brave momma!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the chats, you make my heart smile.
How cute!!! I love the pictures!! I think Heidy would like that too! She is a little standoffish sometimes with new and different things.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
We love the Safari Park! We went on C's 3rd birthday, and today if we talk about buffalo, he will still say "ewwww, buffalos" because they did drool all over the seats! Yuck!
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, though, it was so much fun. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.
Never a dull moment when animals are involved, so it seems.
ReplyDeleteYou've done your duty with this place for a while, so maybe you won't have to go back for a few months...
Glad it was a great day. You got some wonderful shots of the animals and your peanuts...
Hugs,
Lisa
Those are awesome! That looks like tons of fun!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a children's wonderland!
ReplyDelete....Although I'm with you on the car part, would much prefer riding through in someone else's vehicle :)....
Just wanted to let you know that I love your blog! Adorable kids, great photos and LOL stories.
ReplyDeleteWow, they are practically IN your car!! I had no idea! You are a good sport...spit and feed...yikes!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how Kate reacted to something so big right there looking at her...that is great. The boys look so happy and cute...they are just SO handsome!
Looks awesome- and hey, what's a little drool on the windows for THAT much fun!!! Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteit does look like a really fun outing! I am glad you were able to get out from hybernation and go somewhere :)
ReplyDeleteWell...the pictures were great...and I think you definitely earn some Mommy brownie points (not that you needed them!) for taking the Peanuts on the wild safari...but I am right there with you on the "lack of enthusiasm" bit. I work in a middle school and to "reward" the students for completing state tests, they are bringing in "primates" for a show in our rather small auditorium. Is is just me or does that just spell disaster 12 1/2 different ways??? I will definitely be takig the post closest to the doors for sure!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looked like you had a great family day!!
Looks like great fun for the kids! I know what you mean about feeling like you and the car need a wash after driving through though! :) I cannot believe that they actually let the animals put their heads in the car! Amazing! The pictures of the kids feeding the animals are priceless....so sweet of Kate sleeping in her carseat too! Have a great week Kim!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter to anyone at your house if you are disorganized or if things get cluttered. What matters most to them is that you take them to the drive-through safari and lavish them with hugs and kisses and the occasional milkshakes. I think you are a wonderful Mom. That housework will always be there. Your peanuts are going to grow up right before your eyes. They won't remember the tidiness of your closets but they will long remember the smile you greet them with and the sweet night time stories, the way you smell when you lean over to kiss them goodnight and how warm and soft your hugs are.
ReplyDeleteI love the drive-through safari and all the reactions to each animal....
Way to have a happy attitude and do what brings so much joy to your kids. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and colorful pictures!!
