As we were driving down to Houston, we started seeing signs for a place called "Rock City." Since Dave is a geologist this seemed like something we ought to go see. It was very interesting. We had a great time and I am sure we will never forget it!
P.S. Yes, I did write "driving to Houston" above. We drove there ---20 hours each way! And um, yes, we are crazy!
Wow! 20 hours each way that is a lot with three young ones. Great thinking to stop and make a side trip. I love the picture of your three children sticking their faces out of the circles on the building. So cute!

ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a drive. I know you hate flying--is that why you drove? I have avoided flying for years now. It looks like you had fun. Hope the drive went well. How did Kate do in the car for such a long time?
Danielle
What a great trip! We road trip twice a year and it is always an adventure. It looks like you found a great place to explore along the way.

ReplyDeleteDid you buy a See Rock City bird house???? "see rock city" signes are EVERYWHERE starting ata bout a 100 mile radius from it! Next time be sure to stop in Chatanooga and see the aquarium and the downtown river area. Arts View Bluff district is a nice place to stay there!
ReplyDeleteDid you go through Birmingham? If so then you went right through our area!

I love your sense of adventure to just take a side road trip! We are always so focused on the destination, that we forget to enjoy the trip....
ReplyDeleteWow- 20 hours one way,you are brave! Sounds like you had a great time. We're hoping to take the girls on a road trip before the end of summer. Probably not as far away as yours though :0)
ReplyDeleteTwenty hours! You're one brave woman! :)
ReplyDeleteThe gang looks like they had lots of fun!
Great pictures...looks like Rock City was worth the stop, but 20 hours each way???? Wow.
ReplyDeleteLove Rock City! We visited there when I was a kid and it was a lot of fun. I'm a KY girl and you will have to take the crew to Mammoth Cave someday. It's awesome and I know the boys would love it. Ms. Kate seems like an adventurer so I'm sure she would like it too. Enjoy your trip and keep posting the pics. You are a great picture taker!
ReplyDeleteWow! I am so bummed! If I had know that you guys were going to be to Rock City I would have come to see you! We live north of Atlanta and about an hour away!
ReplyDeleteLiLi did a raod trip after we got home and everyone thought we were nuts!
I absolutely love the Ritz Cracker story!!! I swore before I had Ainsley I would not have food in my car nor would I EVER talk on my cell phone while driving my child around. I am guilty on both counts! My very favorite day of the week is when my car goes to the car wash and is spotless when it is ready for me!!!
ReplyDeleteMiss you!
Diana
P.S: Impressive on the 20 drive. I don't think I could do it...
