I am still alive. And I am still going to The Bar Method 3-4 times a week. I have done two weeks worth of classes and today the instructor complimented me as much as she corrected me. Woohoo! I heard things like "beautiful posture, Kim" and "great thigh shaking Kim" (yes, the thigh work makes my muscles literally shake from fatigue but they claim that's all good?!)
Let me thank you for all the kind encouragement after that first disastrous class. Now let me encourage YOU! Those first few classes kicked my you know what! I have been so so sore. I have looked liked a fool. But you know what? There were new people that joined this week and suddenly I am not the "new girl" anymore making all the mistakes. People are looking at me to see what comes next (well one person did today anyway!)
And the biggest thing of all is I feel better and I already look different. I know you probably think that is just my rose colored glasses again (and maybe it is). But I swear I look leaner and my posture is better. I have lost some of that "schlumpiness" already! And I am stronger in just 2 weeks. I can do push-ups now and I could barely do them 2 weeks ago. I still have a LONG way to go and I hope I can stick with it (it is pricey). But I love this exercise so far. You see results quickly and you are so busy the hour flies by.
So, if you are feeling out of shape like I was...get out there and challenge yourself. Take it one day at a time. You can do it!!!! I know you can!
We have been super busy around here with more gymnastics meets and other things. I will try to get another post up this weekend:)
Ballet is one of the best workouts! I do a class that consists of 45 minutes of pilates, followed by half an hour of ballet. It is incredible... makes you feel amazing! Good for you for sticking at it!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
ReplyDeleteI have been trying a bunch of different classes trying to fall in love and do it! Glad you found one you like! So encouraging!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for sticking with it! Way to go Kim!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your candor and inspiring words. I am 40 and have never worked out, never been strong and feel the time has come to finally pay attention to my (aging) body.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I am 11 classes in with Pure Barre and am starting to understand it more/succeed a little bit. I have a LONG way to go but will take the progress. :) (Also I agree with the "pricey" adjective. Wish it wasn't so...!)
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I have been wanting to try a barre class.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Kim! I did daily method (bar class) and loved it until I hurt my wrist and had to stop. Now going back seems so daunting! But just this week, I started doing weights at home for my arms and upper body. It's only been three days, but I am feeling stronger too! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Kim! I love the Daily Method barre class where I live but haven't been in a year after I hurt my wrist. I plan to go back one day! For now, I've just started doing weights at home for my upper body and even though it's only been one week, I feel stronger too! Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteHappy you are finding a way to keep in shape!
