I LOVE the Oscars y'all!  LOVE them!  Love seeing the fashion and all of it!  For many years I hosted a party but I have not done that in a few years.  Tonight I am going to my friend's chic new pool house to sip champagne, eat chocolate and have some fun girl time. I simply cannot wait to see the red carpet fashions!

My Oscar

{an "Oscar" my friends gave me for the best Oscar party hostess}

I know I have been the lamest blogger lately. I have a BIG update post coming tomorrow.  I just need to upload some photos for it!

But tonight I am popping in to tell you that I am really close to getting ready to launch the Nurtured Home.  It won't be long now.  I would love to hear from you though.  I have prepared several posts already but am curious to hear what you the readers want to see/learn more about.  The Nurtured Home will be about marriage, parenting, food, style and spirit. Obviously I am not an expert on all those topics but will have guest posters and lots of interviews. The Nurtured Home is about creating a home filled with beauty and grace. One of the regular features will be an advice column about relationships, family, parenting and marriage. So please leave me some questions in the comments to submit for the column.  You can also e-mail me them or leave them anonymously.  I usually do not allow anonymous comments but am lifting that just for this post.

More soon...

  1. I would love to read about family relationships with adult children and their spouses and children.

  2. How do you deal with the pressures of college (student and parent)? It becomes quite a competition to get into the "it" school. Parents want to brag on their kids. How do you deal with the situation if you or your child got into the 'top" school? What if they didn't?

  3. I have a question about when you one parent asks a child to do something and the other parent "intervenes" to either answer for the child or takes away the chore/responsibility that the other parent just asked them to do. How would you handle this on both ends - avoiding that situation, and if the situation happens what would be the best way to handle it. I'm guessing that there should be agreements made ahead of time but that doesn't happen in every situation.

    Thanks.

  4. I would like to understand how I can not like my child. I love him dearly but I am so tired of his behavior and attitude I cannot stand to be around him often. It's also caused me to be mean to him and sharp with my words. It's a hard thing to admit, not liking your own child.

  9. Hi Kim! I've been a long-time reader of your blog. I'm in early 20s and your holistic family life has been so inspiring, a breath of fresh air. I say this because I come from a family where my parents are pretty absent. They are not "in love" which obviously has extreme ramifications that flow to the family. For example, I feel a lot of resentment over them for feeling like I've raised myself. I paid for a lot of my things in life, supported myself emotionally, went along to many soccer games etc. and basically there's just a disinterest by both my parents, they don't try hard with anything domestic related. I've tried to reason with them and talk with them about my feelings but I am just shut down and given a litany of polemic arguments unrelated to addressing my feelings of abandonment.

How do I know to let go of something and how do I let go of such emotions? I feel like I have such a facile relationship with my parents. When does one let go of a parent relationship as I sometimes feel since being emotionally abused all my life and feeling like they don't care?

I admire you Kim. Thanks for your inspiring family.

  10. I'd like tips on being frugal. A lot of us struggle with money and shop at thrift stores so we cannot be "up" on the latest styles of furniture or clothing

    1. We just look at VRBO in a little neighborhood just outside of Seaside that we like. It is not right on the beach but we look at lots of houses and see what fits our time frame and budget each year. I am not even sure the name of the one we've stayed in the last 2 years (I can try to find it) but it is rather big. We have 2 families stay in it and everyone pretty much has their own room.

Look online, read reviews...that is what we do. When we find one we like, we try to re-book it.

Let me know if you'd like more help.

      Kim

  20. I would like to really know how to talk to children about sex and sexual abuse. One the one hand, I'd like to teach them to save sex until their married, but on the other hand I am so afraid of what might happen if I say things the wrong way and they happen to be the victim of sexual abuse. I am afraid they would feel so much guilt and shame they wouldn't be able to talk about it or report it. (This is very common.)
How do you find the balance?

    1. Sorry if have mislead you but there is no big news....I just have a very long post..nothing really to anticipate. Life is very hectic now and the post is kind of last on the to do list so it gets pushed aside. I really apologize.
