So Grateful

Tuesday, September 11, 2012
I am so grateful to Sibi for inviting me to join her last night on her blog radio show.  And I am so grateful to God for both bringing us together and guiding us last night. The hour flew by and we had so much we wanted to share.

Right before the show, both of my boys prayed over me (Dave had a business meeting and was not here).  I have to tell you it was one of my most cherished moments as a Mom.  I pray with my hand on their foreheads at night sometimes.  And sometimes Harry does this for me but Will has never done that.  It was truly special.  Maybe that is normal for y'all.  While we are big prayer people here...we don't usually pray like that and teenage boys can be especially reluctant if you know what I mean. {I forgot to add that BOTH of my boys independently prayed that "Mom would not embarrass herself."}

Thank you to all who encouraged us and listened last night. We really hope we helped at least one married couple out there.  In case you missed it, you can listen to the broadcast archived below.

I wanted to update so I have it for my memory that Kate was SO excited when she woke up the morning after "losing" her first tooth. She ran in my room and asked if it was morning first. Then she ran back to her room to see what the tooth fairy left.  She was thrilled with the gold coin and $ the tooth fairy left but she was over the moon with JOY when she saw a trail of "magic pixie dust" on her pillow (her description).  It looked like very fancy silver glitter to me.  But apparently the tooth fairy left a little trail of it on the pillow and onto the floor.  Kate could even surmise how the tooth fairy entered her room with careful examination. Kate wanted to save the magic pixie dust and she even brought some to show and tell that day:)

  3. Gonna be sure and listen to it after work! Your boys are such wonderful young men.

    ....oh that Kate!!! How cute is she w/out that little tooth at the bottom!! I know we will enter this phase pretty soon and although I hate to see those "cute little teeth" fallout I'm looking forward to the excitement it will bring. We have checked out ALL KINDS of BOOKS at our local library about the TOOTH FAIRY and she can't wait!!

  4. Your tooth fairy left pixie dust? That's impressive and it makes me realize we SO need to fire our tooth fairy! She's been doing a lousy job. You'd think with 4 kids in this house and nearly 25 years of experience she'd have this thing figured out, but no. What a nice sweet story about your boys praying over you. Congratulations on your radio show, what a great thing to do!

  7. Thank you for sharing! Loved the word you spoke about "choosing to listen" and seeing how your husband is expressing his love for you. Such an encouragement for me to look more closely and make our marriage even better.

  9. Hi Kim,
    First I have to apologize. I am the person from KY that you helped with a window decorating dilemma nearly two years ago. I don't think I ever properly thanked you for that. Right in the midst of that project, I found out I was expecting twins! They are 18 months old now and I still have that stubborn old corner window with white blinds on it, but I do have all of the pics you sent me filed away for a day when I have time again to decorate and THANKS so much for them. Anyway, I took the time to listen to your radio show this afternoon because I believe in the power of a great marriage. My husband and I have been part of a program at our church for engaged couples called Great Start. We are mentors and are trained in using Prepare Enrich with engaged couples, which is such a great tool to jump start conversation. We have the program twice a year and it has ministered to over 140 couples since it started. It is so enriching for us, too.
    Thank you for talking about waking up each morning and deciding to love. I can't always say I am intentional about that and I do need to work on it. With a five year old and the twins, I often feel like we are coasting. I am often too tired to even think about getting a sitter, or planning an evening out and I think that is OK at this point. But what I can do right now is being intentional about one small thing each day to "speak his language". My favorite part was being open to and accepting how he gives/shows love instead of wasting energy on trying to get him to change the way he knows how to give love. You did get me thinking about... would my kids make that toast at their wedding? I hope so and wouldn't that be awesome! Thanks and great job!!!!
