Tea time

Kate hosted her little tea party today.  It was very sweet.
She did most of the work herself which is hard to believe when you see it.

She was so funny. First, she told me we needed to buy plates because she did not think we had plates that were fancy enough.  Let me assure you one thing we do NOT need in this house is any more plates.  We have a lot of dishes and china.   I have collected dishes like some people collect shoes.
 She choose this china....

And she set the table entirely on her own.  She asked at the beginning where things went.  I told her once and she did it.  I asked Kate if she wanted to make place-cards (because she usually enjoys that).  She said no because they would be "too formal" for this party!  I laughed inside.  My sweet girl cannot remember how old she is most days (not kidding) but she knows that place-cards would be too formal!

I made a few of the tea sandwiches before she woke up but then she made all the peanut butter and jelly ones and we made the others together.

We had brie and green apple, salmon, cream cheese and cucumber, shaved beef and cheddar and peanut butter and jelly tea sandwiches. We also had fresh strawberries with mint.

After our tea sandwiches, we had cookies and petit fours.

 We kept the party very small with just a few friends (mostly from school).

After we ate, as a special surprise, we did glitter tatoos for the girls.
Kate got one in Seaside and loved it so we got the kit for the tea party.

Kate's giltter tattoo...3 butterflies.

I think Kate enjoyed her tea party.   I am glad we did it.

The party was fun and I enjoyed my friend, Shelly's company immensely but I think the best part had to be the preparations with my sweet daughter. Those are the memories I will cherish.

And after the tea party, Kate and Libbie giggled and played upstairs so sweetly.  It was the most beautiful sound in the world as they were having so much fun!

We are thankful for good friends and all the blessings they bring.

{thank you shelly for taking some photos for me too}
