Dave, Dave the dinosaur man.

Wednesday, January 19, 2011
I have not been very good about posting.  It is a weird time for our family.  I usually limit sports/activities to one per child at a time.  Judo is somewhat of an exception because it is year long but there are times when there are tournaments (like now) and it is ramped up a bit.  So right now we are at the height of swim team and judo, the beginning of soccer (and tryouts) and Harry is doing "Name that Book."  There have been days when Will has swimming and youth group (which he loves) and Harry has "Name that Book" and soccer all within a 2-3 hour stretch in the late afternoon/early evening.  Often I am supposed to be in two places at once.  It makes for a CRAZY time for me.  It will all settle down in the next two weeks and some things end (swim team) and some things become more routine (soccer).  I cannot even imagine what will happen when Kate does anything more than ballet/tap.  I try so diligently to ensure we have family time and the kids have down time too.

So I have mostly been shuttling kiddos to activities but wanted to post a few photos....

This is from Will's last swim meet.  His favorite event is backstroke and in the first photo (left) he is winning in the backstroke part of a relay.

Last week, Dave went to Kate's class to teach the kiddos about dinosaurs and fossils.  Dave is a geologist and he has done this for each of the peanuts when they were in pre-school.  He is SO good at it and the kids love him.  I cannot even tell you how proud Kate was of her Daddy.  As you can see from the photos, she was touching him almost the whole time.  It was so cute.

Kate could just not keep her little hands off her Daddy.  She was so proud of him.

Dave kept their attention for almost an hour!!!  He is amazing with little ones.
So to get their wiggles out they played "freeze-dance" as we were leaving:)

  10. Oh Kim! I love that photo of Kate hugging her daddy!

And if you have time, I'd love to know what camera setting (ISO, I guess?) you used for the great color and lighting in her classroom. That can sometimes be tricky for me but so many fun things I want to document happen in there!

My son's preK class is doing dinosaurs this month, and that is all he can talk about... and that's without having a fun talk by a dad about fossils!

  31. This is so sweet! I am very close with my dad. He came to speak to my HS, Advanced Placement Government class and I didn't understand what he did. Thankfully now I do but a lawyer isn't nearly as interesting as a geologist! My little sister especially loved fossils when she was Kate's age. Now she is interning at National Geographic magazine and LOVES it.
