A Gift for a stranger {Black and White Wednesday}

Tuesday, November 30, 2010
Last weekend, Harry and I had a "date" shooting photos in the park.  As we were shooting some interesting ducks, I saw a family (two related families actually) struggling to get a Christmas card photo with their point and shoot cameras and two toddlers in tow.   My heart went out to them as we have all been there struggling to get that perfect photo.  I asked Harry if I should offer to take a few photos for them.  He agreed that I should.  So I snapped away and got their e-mail address.  As it turns out they are both using the photos I took for their Christmas cards.  I  made them a disk of all the photos and they are picking it up today. It felt so good to be able to give strangers this gift of a photo of their daughter....

  7. I've been meaning to ask for a while, you're house is always so neat and clean looking. Please share with us how you keep it so clean. Do you have a schedule you follow? Do the kids help out and what sort of chores do they do?

  27. Wow...what a gorgeous shot and such a nice gift. I took over 100 shots of the kids while they were all still home this past weekend. Not one of them makes the cut for a holiday card. Getting six to smile, not have eyes closed or not be making goofy faces was impossible! Could have used you here :)

  32. I love the "pass it on" gift that is happening here on the blog. I saw where one commentor actually was offering a digitially enhanced picture of the photo. She also extended one to you as well. I just love that!!!

    I know the "family in the park" will love and appreciate that too! I especially love the SPIRIT OF GIVING this time of the year. I wish everyone would feel compelled to do this throughout the year. One simple gesture can actually to a long way and set off a chain-reaction of kindness!!

    How sweet of you Kim, you did a wonderful job of capturing a very beautiful little girl while including Harry in this wonderful act of GIVING!

  38. What a sweet gesture and great message to send to your kids. I just got an email today about http://help-portrait.com/ (an organization that takes pictures for the less fortunate) and it reminded me of your blog post. I just got my first DSLR a few weeks ago so I'm still learning how to turn it on! Your pictures are always so beautiful.
