Valentine Dinner

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

First, our husbands sent us to the spa for massages and pedicures on Saturday afternoon while they took care of the children and cooked and cleaned.  It was so relaxing.

Since we rarely have our photo taken together, we had the sitter take this one...

The first course was at Linda and Bill's house.

Bill had prepared an impressive first course feast that included champagne with raspberries, French wines, herbed hummus on endive.....

We were 3 happy ladies!

Next, it was off to Marjo and Cameron's house for the main course....

Grilled sea scallops with cilantro pesto and avocado vinaigrette (I had shrimp because I don't eat scallops).  The vegetable was a sweet potato cassolette with chipotle cream.  It was AMAZING!

Finally, we arrived at our home for dessert.
Dave prepared a blueberry galette with vanilla ice cream and Grand Marnier creme brulee.  It was all delicious!!!

Life is like a box of chocolates...
Dave also bought all of the women a box of our favorite Swiss chocolates.

The menu read...
At La Cuisine de Cupid, Chefs Bill, Cameron and Dave put their hearts into every dish to say
"Oui, we love our wives!"

We love our husbands and feel so blessed.  It was a GREAT night.

P.S. For those that have asked--- Yes, our husbands truly cooked it all.  No help!  They help each other serve it too.  We purposefully "invite" couples to do this based on the facts that A) we enjoy their company B) the husbands are good cooks and C) they live close by.  I will try to get recipes for y'all!  It truly is one magical night a year!

  27. What a wonderful treat! The food and tables looked divine. Tell Dave I said, "Bravo!"

Meanwhile back in Dallas... Robert was in Austin to run the Austin Marathon Sunday morning, Will and Dots had plans with friends, so Vivian and I went out for Mexican food by ourselves. She actually behaved very well (I brought along the video iPod with Dora and Wonder Pets episodes as well as some paper and colored pencils). Not a terrible evening by any stretch, but yours sounded MUCH more romantic - LOL.

Hope everyone at your house is feeling better (especially you!).

  35. How sweet and thoughtful can three husbands be!?! What fun I'm sure they had getting it all together too.

Also, as you know by now, our dear friend and blogger, Pearls & Grace, is going to have a "Pearl Event" in the NYC/Tri-state area on Sunday, March 1st at 7:00 PM. I am so very excited for her. She is really taking a leap of faith by basically going public with her incredible story.

I write to ask you a favor. P&G won't "toot her own horn" so, I'd like for us to do it for her. Would you mind making a blog post about this event and including a link to her blog and her email address?

Also, please keep her in your prayers. She is understandably nervous. Thank you so much for your support of this dear lady! I look forward to seeing you in blogland!

  39. Wow...what a night! My husband can cook but I'm not sure we know anyone else who can. We had such a great time with our friends on Saturday night. It really is just as much fun, and probably more, to have a dinner at home with friends than to go out.

So glad you had a great time.
