Odds and Ends...

We went to spend some time with our good friends yesterday...

Kate wasn't so sure of the swing at first...

Then, she warmed up to it.

Then she LOVED it!  She even tried to pump her legs.

Kate loved petting Patriot (the horse) but she was not so crazy about sitting on him.

A fresh vidalia onion from their garden.  It smells so good.
I plan to use it in our fish tacos tonight.

I tried to capture this cute little chipmunk but he was too fast for me.
As soon as I got him in focus, he would scurry away.

~Thank you for the prayers for Conner.  He is doing really well.  Hopefully, he will be flying home soon.

~Thank you for all of the amazing e-mails you have sent regarding the diet and supplements.  I have been overwhelmed with the stories that people have shared.  I have also received many e-mails asking specific questions and advice. I will answer them all but it will take me a while.  I will start on them next week when we return. If for some reason you don't hear back form me, try again.  It may have been an oversight.  And I will do a post on homeopathy in late July.

~ I have LOVED the Bachelorette this season.  I love, love, love Jason and hope she picks him.  Jesse is nice too but Jason is the one. Just had to throw that in there.

~We are headed to Minnesota to spend the 4th of July with this wonderful family.  I met Diana on Rumor Queen in our log-in room.  We clicked immediately on-line knowing really nothing about one another.  There was just a connection.  The more we got to know one another, the more alike we realized we are.  Then we were both referred little angels from the same province (Jiangxi).  Ruby and Kate are very close in age (about a month apart). I am so blessed to know Diana but I have never met her in "real life." We talk on the phone almost every Tuesday and we e-mail one another. This weekend is a leap of faith for both of us. Diana was brave enough to invite our family to their lake house and we are so grateful.  I am taking a HUGE leap of faith by conquering a fear that has paralyzed me for nine years.  I am getting on that plane!

~I am not brining my laptop because I want to spend all of my time with friends and family but I will certainly post LOTS of photos when we return.  (Diana and I might sneak in one post on her computer;)

~I am probably the last person I know who did not own an Ipod until today.  I just bought one for the plane and am looking for music suggestions.  Feel free to leave them in the comments.

~I am so excited for our trip and my anxiety level about flying has been pretty manageable so far (probably due to all of the prayers).  I have copied almost all of the Bible verses on index cards (along with who sent them).  I still need to finish tonight. Please continue to pray for my strength and our family's safety as we fly early (7:30) Friday morning and around lunchtime on Tuesday.  I really appreciate it.

~ I am reminded of a line from one of my favorite songs:

" I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams and that faith gives you the courage to dare do great things. I am here for you whatever this life brings.  So, let my love give you roots and help you find your wings.   It's not living if you don't reach for the sky.  I'll have tears as you take off but I'll cheer as you fly."

I am reaching for the sky!

~Happy Fourth of July!

  1. I'm glad you got the ipod...that really helped me survive this last flight! Have a great trip. Email me your flight times and I will pray specifically during your takeoff...knowing someone was doing that for me made a huge difference to know they were praying exactly when I needed it.

  7. Kim,
You will do just fine on your plane trip! Especially with all the prayers and thoughts coming your way! This is coming from a Mom that has lost count of the times I have flown with my children (retired military/stationed overseas)Even with as many times as we have been on a plane there are times I get a little anxious...I end up so preoccupied with the kids and I find focusing my energy on them really helps.
Flying really can be lots of fun! It's getting through security that is the stressful part!;) By the time you get through that the plane ride will be a breeze!lol;)
Have a GREAT trip and Happy 4th!!!

  8. Well, I still don't have an Ipod, so you aren't the last! ;)

    Conquering fears is hard, but I know you can do this...it won't ever be something you find easy to do, but you will conquer this one this weekend. {hug}

  9. Oh you will have a wonderful time, I am so excited for the both of you! I will pray for your safe travels, I love Itunes, so easy and great music. I loved the Richard Marx song "ready to fly" when I went to get Myah, makes me think of you this week! Or she's an eagle when she flies by Dolly Parton, or On Eagles Wings, oh I could go on and on with flying songs. Unless you don't want to think about flying then how about John Mayer, love him, I love Casting Crowns, 33 Miles, Nora Jones (love her!), Tony Bennett, Michael Buble. Hmm, I could go on and on.
I sent you and email today that you might want to read before you leave. Something good!
Well, off to baseball! Have a great time, give Diana hugs from me!

I dropped my dear husband at the airport earlier today and he's on his way to Australia. I hope he has a good time too. I know I have at least enough anxiety for two people!

  12. SO happy Conner is doing well. Yes, I would love one of Harry's pots:) and girl, you reach for the sky every single day of your life -you are a leader, a pioneer, yourself and most certainly a mentor to so many - we will pray for you as you fly and I know the Lord will use this to stretch you, grow you and just plain love on you as you visit your dear friends (give them kisses for us, by the way:)

...but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31 (Oh how I have used this in times of trepidation:)

    Love,
    Heather
    PS - what's an IPOD? ;)

  14. Just catching up on your blog after being out near your "neck of the woods." Went to a great outlet mall in Leesburg and wondered if you'd ever been there.

I know you will have a wonderful time with the "jewels." I'll be praying for your flights to go well for you. Love the song -- it's perfect for your situation. Can't wait to see all the pictures once you get home.

What a living example you are to your kids. It is great for them to see you face such a big fear and do it through prayer and faith! I will be praying for you Friday morning! Looking forward to some great pictures of your lovely families together!!! What awesome friendships we form in the adoption community!

  16. I will pray for safe travels for you and your family. You will have such a fabulous time!! This is one of my favorite songs, too. I sing it for my girls (although I can't sing) and I dance with them to this song because it speaks to my dream for them. It's one of those songs that makes me cry, but it's a good cry. ;-)

  31. Have a wonderful trip! I don't like to fly and I amespecially afraid of turbulence. A few weeks ago my daughter and I were on an really rough flight. She loved it and was laughing and giggling-she thought it was like a Six Flags ride! I didn't want her to know that I was terrified so I tried to remain calm. She looked over at me and said "Mom, you look like you are going to puke!" and gave me a little pat on the arm. That little pat really calmed me down! And she had no idea how scared I was.

Years ago when I flew a lot, a friend told me to "pray for the plane to be surrounded with angels and to be carried on their wings" and I have done that ever since. :)

It looks like you all are having an awesome summer! I love Harry's clay pots!! What a great idea...we are having a lemonade stand and the boys are trying to think of some other things to make and sell but we never thought of clay pots! hehee How creative he is!
