Will and I have a disagreement going. He says these are pigtails (2 on the sides) and a ponytail is one in the back. Is there really a specific distinction? These are a week old and Miss Kate got a "bob" haircut to even out the "mullet" she was sporting. So, she won't be wearing any pigtails or ponytails for a while anyway!
Do you like my pony tails?

Will is right it took me a while to figure it out but pig tails=2 ponytail=1 sorry i have to agree with Wiil! lol
ReplyDeleteWay to go Will!!! You are correct...2 are pigtails and 1 in back is a ponytail!!! Miss Kate is so pretty!!!
ReplyDelete~Michelle
For me, both sides and back are ponytails--you are both right.
ReplyDeletePigtails are braids that are nice and tight so that they curl on the ends--like Pippi Longstockings...
Pigtails and braids are the same thing. Ponytails are loose on the ends...can be curled but not braided...it is confusing.
Yes, I have to agree with Will. These are precious. I love her hot pink dress! Z is desperately in need of her 5th hair cut since being home- can you believe it??? I refuse to let her have a baby mullet Ha! Ha!
ReplyDeleteXOXO,
Stacie
thank you for your sweet comments...i cant wait to read more of your wonderful story.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful girl kate is!!!!
what a blessing!!
congratulations.
the jammmies you asked about , i believe were little lavender toile from baby nay, maybe 4 years ago. i don't think they are still making them but they were so sweet. of course now she thinks she's all grown up & they are too 'baby' for her!!
who asked ya' right?!
xo
Will is right..but I don't know why?? Neither animal has two tails LOL
ReplyDeleteNow post her new do pics!
I'd have to agree with Will. Two on the side is piggies and one in the back in pony...
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI hate to do it but I have to agree with Will on this one. Technically Kate had "pigtails". The whole "pigtail" thing doesn't make any sense, but that's the way it is.
Danielle
OMG ~ I LOVE her pig tails! She is adorable! I have been so bad about getting on the computer the last couple of days as we have been on a non-stop run! I plan to post tonight but I just had to check my favorite little girl before church :D
ReplyDeleteLadybug hugs,
;D
Miss Kate is beautiful !!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute. Hair envy here! Poor Miss Lindy's hair is so fine and scarce, keeping a bow or a band in it is a chore.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing pix of the bob.
Have a great Sunday!
Lisa
I love them!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do believe Will is correct. hehee
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, she looks so grown up in these pictures! I have to agree with Will, piggie=2 pony=1. Now what would we call what Myah was sporting when we got her 1 on top and 2 in back! A poggie? Ha ha! Anxious to see the new style.
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I always called two ponys, pigtails. It's cute that Will knows that.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with Will. 1 - ponytail (wherever it is) 2 - ponytails. Plural. (wherever they are).
ReplyDeleteI know I am in the minority when I say this though.
Braids = pigtails.
I had this question posed on my blog awhile back now, and found out most people will agree with Will. How can so many people be wrong? ;)
Ok...after the different thoughts on this, I had to consult wikipedia. You can check it out for yourselves too, but pigtails are parted in the middle and seperated into two bunches of hair. They can be braided or not and still be pigtails. Ponytails are pulled away from the face and worn in one bunch at the back of the head. They go on to tell much more, but I won't bore you all with it. Ha! I know....I'm a freak...but I had to know for myself once the question was brought up. Either way, her hair looks super cute!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pigtails! Kate looks so adorable! Keep the pictures coming!
ReplyDeleteMichelle
Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your thoroughness in fact checking! I guess I will concede to Will. But I hate calling anything on my daughter a "pig" tail:) I might invent a new word!
I think the one of top of the head is a waterfall or a "pebbles" (from the flintstones).
Kim
Will is right!! Sorry mom!!! Pigtails are on the sides and pony tail is in the back!!
ReplyDeleteJennifer beat me to Wikipedia! Whatever they are, they are so cute (and they are short like a piggy's tail so I understand the confusion ;^)).
ReplyDeleteSo, where are the photos of Miss Kate in her new bob? Emma has a shag and we are going for the bob next week (though I'm not sure her hair is long enough in all places, but it's got to be better than this hairdo, which reminds me of a dark haired version of Florence Henderson's Mrs. Brady do...ick!).
It has always been my understanding that pig tails are two on the side (like the ones pictures) and a pony tail is one in the back.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the education on pigtails vs. ponytails! Regardless, Miss Kate is still cute no matter what you call her hairstyle.
ReplyDeleteWe have had the same discussion several times with others, since our Kylee began sporting them. We agree with Will.....pigtails=2 on the sides, pony tail=1. I looked it up on wikipedia, because I was in disagreement with my mom who kept calling them ponytails. :o)
ReplyDeleteLOL,
Shauna
Have your husband and mine been having secret talks? Mike pulled me up on it the other day when I said pony tail instead of pigtails for the side ones...he was right, I normally call them pigtails when there is two, I was tired and ponytail came out...goes to show men take more notice than we think!
ReplyDeleteHayley
Well, you don't have to listen to wikipedia!!! What do they know!! Just make up your own term. My best friend started putting pigtails in her 3 yr olds hair. Her three year old kept telling her she was not a piggy that they were angel wings. So now my friend calls them angel wings and her daughter loves that she is an angel. :) Either way, Kate is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteJennifer
Yep...will is correct! ;)
ReplyDeletePigtails, ponytails, whatever, I just want some!
ReplyDeleteOh and I love the white dress in the previous post!
ReplyDeleteOoh, yes, Miss Kate I looove your pigtails, but I'm sure I'll love your new "bob" too...you are cute no matter what!
ReplyDelete(and the clothes are too cute for words, too!)
LOVE THEM - brings me back to when Chloe was just starting to wear them too!!! So cute!!
ReplyDeleteLove the pigtails, Kate looks adorable. I can't wait to see the "bob"! Kate looks so grown up!
ReplyDeleteI think Will is right!
Love,
Dawn
Actually they are dog ears since a dog has two ears. pigs only have one tail as does a horse but why split hairs? A pigtail would be one in the back that curles and a pony tail would be long in the back. Dog ears are two one on either side.
ReplyDeleteEither way they are adorable on your babe.
Beverly
Pigtails are two and pony is one-- I think????
ReplyDeleteWOW she looks so cute in the pigtails. I cant wait till Mia's hair gets long enough to put it up like Kate's. Very cute!!
Christy :)
Oh my word, she looks darling! Love those pink maryjanes for sure!
ReplyDeletewhatever you want to call them.....Kate looks adorable!
ReplyDeleteYep. Pigtails are braids but either way they are super cute on Miss Kate! (I'm jealous)
ReplyDeleteYes, pigtails... and they are MAGNIFICENT!!! I love them (well you know I do)!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
Love, Shana & Pig-tail sportin' Sophie Lu
xoxo

ReplyDeleteWill is correct. She has two pigtails. The kids and I just had a Kate fix. Although three of us saw her yesterday we needed a little pick me up today! Kim she is cuter than ever. She has really come into her ownself. What a precious little lamb! Love ya, T
