My friend just sent me this picture of "Kissy Kate" and I had to add it to this post.
It has been a few weeks since I wrote what I was thankful for. The other night I was giving Kate a bath and she pulled up and leaned over the tub to kiss me over and over and over again (maybe 30 times). An enormous smile spread over my face and I was filled with a sense of peace. I looked at my daughter who was playing and splashing in the water as she squealed with joy. I thought to myself....she is so happy and secure and incredibly affectionate with me, Dave and the boys. Then I realized there was a reason I waited extra long for her. I knew in my heart at that moment that Kate was the child that was meant to be my daughter. I have felt this before but there has never been a moment that I have felt it so strongly.
A good friend of mine advised me to pray for exactly what I wanted in Kate while I was waiting for referral and I did. I prayed for a calm, patient, happy, giving, kind, easy, sweet and healthy daughter. Kate is exactly what I prayed for. I am blessed.
I am so thankful that Kate Emerson was placed in a very loving foster family the day she was found. I think they taught her how to love because it obviously comes so naturally to her.
ahhh, thank you Lord for sweet Kate!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long while since I've commented, so I thought I'd say Hi.
ReplyDeleteKate is looking very content and happy with her life. So is Mama, for that matter!
Love the frame, I might need to get one of those for my sweet Katie...(thanks for the link).
As I am in the paperchasing process for #2, I know this is the perfect time to be praying for specific qualities in our next child. I am glad God answered your prayers so wonderfully and that you recognize it and give him the glory!
ReplyDeleteGod bless!
what a hoot.. love that sweet little dimple.
ReplyDeleteYou truly have been blessed.
Awe, that is so sweet!
ReplyDeleteBless you, I love your thankful list.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteThat is the sweetest story!
Be sure to give yourself some credit too! Kate has learned what it means to be loved--and to be a family through you.
You're an amazing mom, and have an amazing daughter.
Danielle
Your Kate is such a sweet baby. You have taught her what it means to "love". Bless you.
ReplyDeleteThank You Jesus for answered prayers. For the little miracle of Kate Emerson safely home with her family.... just as You had planned before she was born.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. So happy for you Kim.
That is a beautiful post. Kate is perfect! As I read your post, I was overwhelmed by the verse, Ask, and it shall be given unto you, seek and ye shall find ...For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. How precious when the simple things bring us the greatest joy.
ReplyDeleteLadybug hugs,
Debbie
This is a beautiful post. Thank you so much for sharing. It was a great reminder to those of us waiting, to remember (even when the wait is HARD) to know that our children will be worth it ALL. :) That makes me smile and gives a spring in my step .... that is, until the CCAA does another two-day batch. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow sweet. Thank you for sharing your thankful heart.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Thursday.

ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet post. I love your idea of Thankful Thursday. One of the many beautiful, unexpected blessings of our adoption has been the eye opening realization of just how blessed I truly am. Not only am I overwhelmed with the blessing of my amazing daughter, but all the other little things in my life that I may not have noticed so much before.
