This week I would like to thank the people that allow me to get a little break from Mommydom once in a while. Will is an amazing helper with Kate. Yesterday when I was trying to answer an e-mail, Kate kept crawling to the computer and hitting my keyboard. Will volunteered to give Kate piggy-back rides around the house so she would not get to my computer. He also keeps a eye on her while I cook or do other little things around the house. Thanks Willie!
Lindsey has been my great summer helper. She helps me juggle the summer schedules of three kids. Because of her, I get to spend some quality individual time with each child AND I can even get my haircut once in a while too! Kate loves Lindsey and reaches out for her as soon as she sees her. Lindsey is going to be a teacher and I know she'll be great!
This is Miss Kristi. She was Harry's assistant teacher last year and she watched all three kids last week one night for us. It was our first night out as a couple since Kate joined our family. I was so nervous leaving Kate for the first time at bedtime. However, Kate fell asleep in Miss Kristi's arms while drinking her bottle and transferred (still sleeping) into the crib. This is something Kate Emerson has never done for me!
Last but not least, Dave is a great hands-on Dad. He bathes Kate most nights and puts her to bed (which despite Miss Kristi's experience is no small feat). He has been great about just stepping in and taking over when I need a break. We truly are complete partners in our parenting.
In his picture, he is "watching" Kate while she splashes in her pool. Now, when I try this with her, I cannot read a book. Kate usually climbs out of the pool, leans over and does other things that require my constant supervision!
Thank you Will, Lindsey, Miss Kristi and Dave for letting me have a few minutes to myself once in a while. I really appreciate it!

ReplyDeleteSuch cute photos. You have a lovely family and are very blessed. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose photos are SO cute! I LOVE the one of Will and Kate. You have such a great family, and I'm glad you have great friends/helpers to help you. I'm sure they love helping with Kate and that they know how much you appreciate them. I'd help if I were near by. Too bad I'm on the other end of the country.

What great helpers you have! I have to comment on Will because I know how hard it can be on a ten year-old to have a toddler combing their space. Everytime I see a picture of him with Harry or Kate, he has a smile on his face and an ernest willingness in his look to help his younger siblings. What a wonderful little man you and Dave have raised! You should be very proud!
ReplyDeleteYEAH! You finally got a date night :D Holly gets to our house at 6:30 tonight and we are off! I am excitied and nervous ~
BTW ~ Kate has the sweetest smile!
Kim, you have WONDERFUL help! This is a great post with great photos of a great family!! I'm glad you were able to get a few things done, I'm sure there's more as there's always much to do. One day at a time, I'm sure you're doing a GREAT job!!

Kim,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got out with Dave, even if you were nervous! Now you know you can leave that precious Kate and she will do just fine! Amazing how these girls have us wrapped around their gorgeous chubby little fingers!!! Every Mom needs a break and every Mom needs great helpers! I am so glad that you are enjoying both... Even if it is just to answer emails!
Blessings,
Diana
I appreciate your honesty and the fact that mothers need a break (even though it is so hard for us to let that happen). I am glad you have special people in your life whom you trust with your kids.
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs a Lindsey!
Achk! I'm so behind on reading my Nursery Blog that I hadn't even noticed there were comments on there!!! So sorry - you asked about the polka dotted Tea Set, and truthfully, it was a gift and I'm not sure where they got it. Yikers! All this time waiting for an answer and I don't even have a good one for you!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by though! Cute blog you got over here!
What a great thankful list. You new addition to the family is beautiful, congratulations. Isn't it funny how our children act differently for us :).

ReplyDeleteWhat a great post - and yes, some wonderful people to be thankful for - I tell my boys that often - they make it so much easier to have a little one around!! I needed them 10, 11, and 12 years ago!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteKate's dimple is so cute. It is definitely nice to have a break once in a while. It helps me be a better mom when it's my turn.
ReplyDeleteAmen sister! Could Not do it withour my fabulous helpers! We lost our most favorite helper as she, alas, graduated from nursing school and is now working as a "real nurse". But we are lucky to have great helpers "on deck"!
ReplyDeleteJulie
It would be sooo hard to do it alone...glad you have so many wonderful, loving helpers.
