Richmond Zoo

Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Last Saturday we spontaneously decided to drive to the Richmond Zoo. It is a small, privately owned zoo but we had a fabulous time. The weather was cool (for July) and breezy. Everything was perfect. Afterwards, we went out for Mexican food and to Nordstrom's for the big anniversary sale! How much better can a Saturday get? Miss Kate got her very first pair of sneakers (pink). The bad news is that she has a wide foot. That could seriously limit our future shoe fashion choices!

P.S. Notice the way Kate holds on to Dave's ears when she is on his shoulders. I think it is hilarious. She also tries to put her dress (or shirt) over his head. She's a funny little girl.

  2. Adorable! I love how Kate not only matches Mommy but also her sno-cone.

Lindy likes putting her fingers in my husband's ears, too. Funny...

Looks like a fun day for all.

  5. My girls love the zoo! While in China we took them to the zoo in Nanning. They've been to the National Zoo here as well as all the little private zoos near our home. Too cute. Are you referring to Richmond, VA? I'm going to be down that way in August. King's Dominion...

  6. It is always so much fun to go to the zoo, as long as its not so hot and sounds like you guys had a great day and the animals were out. I love the sweet little things that Kate does, shirt over dad's head, holding on to his ear, those are precious things that one day you will look back and remember happy times!!!

  9. Such cute photos! I love that Kate had her finger IN Dave's ear! Now of course I really want a snow cone. You always look so amazing by the way. What size clothing does Kate wear right now? No particular reason...just curious ;)

By the way...sorry for the long message that I left you. I incessantly ramble sometimes. I'm sure you're not shocked, and I hope it wasn't too bad. Hopefully we can talk soon.

  13. I am still hooked on your blog Kimber although I haven't commented in a while.

Yours is the first blog I read!

If you recall our daughters are from the same orphanage/town-Nanfeng. It is so fun for me to see how adorable little Kate is getting-just blossoming under your families care! Your sons are so sweet and remind me of my son Jack.

I just love reading about your family and all the neat things you do together.
(I also love the anniversary sale @ Nordstrom)
You are wonderful writer and an especially wonderful loving mother.

My travel group is planning to take our daughters back to Nanfeng, China in 12 years. Want to join us??
Thanks for all your wonderful posts!

  16. Kim, looks like a terrific day at the zoo!! Seeing the giraffes makes me wanna go buy some giraffe-fur pillows teehee, love their fur, they're so pretty!! How was Miss Kate with the animals? I'm guessing she was easy going and enjoyed them?!
All the kids look so cute with their snow cones, especially Kate's green one!!
We have a picture of Ethan holding on to his daddy's ear just like that!! That's an adorable picture! I'm surprised Dave could hear anything with those "earplugs"!!

  18. Looks like fun. Your pictures are always so great. Did you get Kate the green snow cone to match her dress? It works, too cute!

  19. jennier,

Actually, the lime snowcone was mine (and yes, I got it to match my shirt cause I can be klumsy). Kate stole my snowcone:)

I did not coordinate Kate's outfit with mine honestly. It was pure coincidence. But I did plan hers because it has an alligator on it and I thought that was good for the zoo!
