Happy 4th of July!

Wednesday, July 4, 2007

We had a great day today! We started off with a slow morning. Harry went to ice skating camp and I cleaned while Dave hung out with Kate. Poor Will has an awful blister from ice skating and had to stay home from camp today. You all know that Miss Kate has not been napping for me AT ALL! So, today I told Dave that he was completely in charge of Kate. I needed to get some things done around the house (laundry). Of course, he puts her in for her morning nap and she lays right down and goes to sleep. WHY does this happen? It is so frustrating.

Our neighborhood has a parade every 4th of July where kids ride bikes and scooters through the neighborhood. Parents and kids decorate their wagons, bikes, scooters, golf carts and cars (even some little red convertibles) and there is a parade. At the end, everyone gets candy and popsicles and goes to the pool. It is very cute. Kate was supposed to be napping so only the boys participated this year. However, since I put her down this time, she never fell asleep!

Then, we went to the pool for a few hours. We came home and had a delicious dinner that Dave cooked. After dinner we headed to the soccer fields in our neighborhood for fireworks. It was a great crowd. Kate was not even phased by the fireworks. I am telling you nothing phases her!

I don't think Kate is legally an American yet. She has a green card and is a legal alien but she sure enjoyed her first 4th of July!

  6. Love the photos! The kids look so patriotic and I the swimsuit is scrumptious! I love the idea of a neighborhood parade, that sounds so friendly. I'm sure something like that would never be approved with our board of directors!

  8. Kim,

Kate obviously loves you so much that the idea of sleeping when you're around just doesn't work for her. Have you tried that whole putting her in the crib sitting down next to it and waiting while not looking at her trick? Then you slowly each day move further and further away? I'm sure you've heard of it. I saw it on supernanny and it seems to always work.

Love that bathing suit. The kids look SO cute! Glad you had a great 4th.

Thanks for the recipe. I'm going to try it this week! It's moving day--right now I'm sitting in the closet with my cat while the apt is being cleaned (its a huge closet). At least the internet is set up.

  9. Kim,

Forgot to say congrats to Kate's 3 months home with her family! And she's cruising around the furniture! Go Kate! ;)

I think I might try your roast chicken recipe Monday night (I want to make something nice since it's Jeffrey's first day at work).
