Home at last!

Thursday, April 5, 2007
Harry being silly at almost midnight waiting for his little sister to arrive. I told him his eyes might stick that way!
My friend Shannon who came to welcome the gang home.

Me and my friend Amber. We are killing time waiting for the very delayed flight!

Harry's kindergarten class made this great banner to welcome home Baby Kate. Harry did all of the big writing. Thank you Mrs. Bear and Miss Kristi! The boy in the middle is one of Will's best friends (Logan). It was so nice of him to stay up late and come meet Will at the airport.

One last shot of Harry and Mom before the rest of the family arrive.

I see them coming off the plane but I am not allowed to run past that guard to get to my family.

Oh, I see my baby!

Here they are!

Hello, sweet angel!

Kate Emerson smiled immediately at Harry. She knows a good egg when she sees one.

The moment I have been waiting for. Kate let me hold her easily. She did not cry at all and she acted as though she has known me all of her life.

We are checking each other out. I LOVE what I see!

Checking out Harry again.

Harry's first stab at being a big brother. We were about to head to baggage claim and he stopped me and said, "Mom, can I hold her?"

Our family.

Last night was absolutely magical. The flight was very delayed so they did not get in until just minutes before midnight. Kate Emerson is such a calm, mellow and sweet baby. She was not overwhelmed at all. She let me hold her right away and she did not cry or reject me. She went easily into her car seat and babbled and ate a blueberry muffin for half the trip home. She slept for the second half. Everyone showered (after 30 hours of travel they needed it) and got ready for bed. I had the opportunity to give Kate a bottle (picture to come). We went to bed at about 3 a.m.. We thought Kate was not feeling well this morning so we went to the pediatrician. She has a 103.5 fever and an ear infection. Poor thing. We are all going on about 3 hours sleep but we are so thrilled. Thank you to everyone who has prayed for us and supported us on this journey. I cannot tell you the peace and joy that I am feeling right now. Thank you to Shannon, Janie and Amber for coming to the airport with me! I want to especially thank my "cyber-friends" from Yahoo and RQ. You all have been so supportive and you know exactly what I have been going through. My "real life" friends and family have been incredible too. I cannot wait to share Kate with each and everyone of you.
Love,
Kim

  24. Unbelievable Kim! I am crying tears of happiness right now as I have looked and looked at your pictures. What an unbelieveable moment! I smiled when you wrote that Kate came to you so quickly - I knew she would because you sent a big part of you to China to get her and they represented you so wonderfully well...down to the bows in her hair every day!

Praising God with you - He has done great things!

  25. Kim & Dave,
I just wanted you to know how happy we are for you. Your journey has been an amazing one. Baby Kate is just absolutely precious. You can see in the pictures how relaxed and comfortable she is. Especially with her big brothers. I have been able to resist the urge to comment until now. Your mom may have told you I've been asking her for updates and I've been reading your entries and enjoying your pictures everyday. I know we're probably not the closest of step-sisters but I am just so overjoyed for you. Being adopted myself I know how blessed Baby Kate will feel as she grows up and that feeling will grow as she grows. I wish my dad could be here to meet his first granddaughter but I know he's smiling down on all of you today. I hope Baby Kate is feeling better soon. I wish you all the joy, peace and happiness you so deserve. Congratulations!!!
    With Prayers & Love,
    Linda
