A knock out!

Thursday, September 6, 2012
We have some BIG news around here.  I told you a few weeks ago that someone had a wiggly tooth.....WELL...not anymore!

Tonight, while I was doing the dinner dishes, the kids were having a very innocent pillow fight with the couch pillows in our play room.  They do this a lot and Kate loves it.  Harry hit Kate in the face (gently) with a pillow and it really loosened her tooth more.  Then, Will immediately hit her in the back of the head with another pillow and her tooth popped out!  All I heard was a scream.  The blood kind of freaked her out.  It took us a few minutes to find the tooth in the carpet!

{she LOVES her big brothers so much!}

I think it is so funny how Kate's 1st tooth fell out because although she has two big brothers, my boys are not really rough and tumble kind of boys.  I am kind of glad they knocked it out because it has been loose for a few weeks and it was not really making progress.  The boys kind of helped it along;)

In other news, it is Spirit week at Will's new high school.  And as part of that, the seniors traditionally shave the freshmen heads before the big rival football game this weekend.  Will has a large scar covering half his head (from a head surgery when he was an infant) so the school did not want to shave this head.  We went and had his done professionally.  You ought to see some of these kids.  They have all sorts of reverse mohawks and quilt patterns on their heads!!!  It is 100% voluntary and most of the freshmen really want to participate.

Harry has his first middle school dance tomorrow night (oh my word!). Will is going to his first high school football game (and a dance).  And Dave, Kate and I will be going to our first high school football game in Texas too.  My peanuts are growing up, y'all!

  1. Yayee for the tooth fairy! I would love some money under my bed, but I guess I would rather have all of my teeth!

    I think all Catholic schools have the same traditions. Although, not sure it my brothers shaved head was voluntary!

  2. Madeline can't wait to lose her first tooth!! Oh my as far as the high school, you are in for a fun ride. I just loved those years!! Actually kind of a love/hate really:) I just always enjoyed being around my kids with all their friends hanging at the house so much. I still get excited to see them all when they are in town from college/jobs. It is a great part of the growing up. I think Kate will be so well rounded having older siblings, John David sure is:)

  7. Oh that is just the best first tooth loss story! I love it! Kate looks so old with her long hair and missing tooth. How the heck did that happen? She was just a little toddler when I started reading your blog.

  11. I can't help but giggle at the story of Kate's first lost tooth.... hilarious!
    She is most definitely the little sister of big brothers with a story like that :) And it's so cool that such an important memory includes them both!
    Looks like y'all are off to a great start this year!

  13. I cannot believe they gave you such a hard time at the coastal living house! We had the complete opposite experience, out girls were allowed to check out every room, touch and feel the beds and sit on the outside chairs... they were only told no when they asked to swim in the pool ;). Our friends that we were visiting are from Houston too! have a great weekend and good luck in football!

    1. Lulu,

      The pajamas are a brand called Powell Craft and they are from England. I can sometimes find them at Zulily, Ebay and locally in one boutique. They are 100% cotton and lovely. They can be pricey in some stores but I can usually ind a good price if I am patient and look around.
