Wow! Thanks and the rest of Easter!!!

Tuesday, April 17, 2012
Thank you!  I am a little embarrassed by all the kind compliments I got on that last Easter post.  It makes me want to curl my hair  everyday.  Someone even said I looked 15 years younger (which made me wonder how old I usually look)!

Anyway, I will share a few things.  I cannot tell you how happy the kind words made me feel.  I know happiness comes from inside and all that BUT I had very little sleep that night before Easter and I have gained a few pounds so I was not feeling like I look my best lately.  So, to hear y'all say all the kind things you did made me feel better.  It also motivated me to keep juicing, doing pilates and eating as gluten free as I can to kick these pounds.

Now since y'all were so kind to me, I am going to share a special secret with you.  One thing that I think helped my appearance last Sunday is a new product I found.  See, I have really dark circles under my eyes right now.  I think it is seasonal allergies but I don't know. Who knows? Maybe I always have raccoon eyes (I try not to look in the mirror too much as that is my anti- aging strategy).  Anyway I found this product that is the BEST concealer EVER!  I have tried a lot of concealers.  This one is so so so good.  I apply it with a concealer brush, then dab it around with my finger.  You only use a tiny, tiny bit so I think it will last a very long time.  I will use this product for as long as they make it.

I am telling you...this works miracles.  I got mine at Ulta and the saleswoman matched it to my skin (I was light golden) but if you don't have an Ulta near you, you can get it online here.

Our Easter was really nice and low key.  We went to Mass.

After Mass, we had our annual little egg hunt.  I really thought Will would not participate...but he did.  My kids really like being kids.  Plus, it is the only time they really get candy around here (and Halloween).

We hid one golden egg.  Kate told me that that is what we were supposed to do.  She said, "You hide one golden egg with $ in it, Mama!"  I informed her that a) we did not have a golden egg and b) we have never done that before.  Apparently, we did have a golden egg, so we went with her plan.   Technically, Will found the golden egg BUT being the nice brother that he is (for that moment anyway), he put it somewhere else let Kate "find" it.

Dave and I spent the rest of the day working on some projects around the house  (to be blogged about soon) while the kids ate candy and played outside.  Then we had a nice dinner of Dave's beef braise.YUM.  And I made this kale salad.  It was really good. I also made banana pudding/nilla wafer trifle for dessert.

P.S.  Thank you so much for praying for S.  I know your prayers make a huge difference.

  2. You are so beautiful .....all the time my friend. I giggled when I read the part about applying the eye cream without looking in the mirror. That is so me! I try to not make eye contact with the mirror that often:) The egg hunt sounds wonderful and I'm glad ya'll had a great time! Love ya:)

  4. It has been a while since I have commented on your blog. Your kiddos are getting so big and Kate is as precious as ever. We have been home with our daughter for 17 months and your blog was one that gave me hope when the waiting got so long and so hard.
Thanks for the make-up tip! As soon as my little miss wakes up from her nap, I'm going to Ulta! I adore you dress, too. Is it a Lilly?
Is your son going to Jesuit HS? My boys attend an all boys Jesuit HS and love it! They are juniors and it has been a wonderful experience. The community of students and teachers is something really special.
Hope you are having a great spring and I look forward to stopping by again :)

    1. K,

I do not put product in my hair (except some hair spray ) when I curl it. Although I am sure some gel or mousse would work well. Just air dry or blow dry but do not straighten or brush it out. I pretty much curl it like this video here...

      http://www.thesmallthingsblog.com/2011/08/how-to-curl-your-hair-with-curling-iron.html

it takes me about 20 minutes to do my hair that way (once it is dry) and the curll lasts me all day and sometimes 2 days. Hope that helps.

      Kim
