Usually Sunday Snapshot is all about the kids but this week it is all about me:)
Dave and I had a GREAT weekend. We actually had a sitter BOTH nights (so unusual for us). First, my handsome husband and I went to a groovin party to celebrate my very good friend Lisa's 40th birthday. It was a surprise party and she was VERY surprised. We had so much fun. I even danced and I have not danced in a long time.
(dress~J.Crew (people ask)
I was in charge of photos at my friends party so I knew there would not be any of me and Dave. The sitter took these before we left.
Then on Saturday night we went to celebrity chef (of Bravo's Top Chef fame), Monica Pope's restaurant T'afia. It was delicious.
(dress~Lily Pulitzer)
Then we headed downtown to a small venue to see Natalie Merchant. I LOVE her.
Dave bought me the tickets for Mother's Day. The concert was very good (we had 3rd row seats). I think she is a brilliant woman and she is not guided by commercial success. She spent years researching old poems about childhood and motherhood and composed beautiful songs based on them. While her new stuff is not my very favorite, she did sing some of her old songs too. In fact, she ended the concert with my two favorite songs of all time (These are Days and Kind and Generous). It was awesome. I was about moved to tears. I have seen her 4 times and she is an AMAZING singer. Love her.
The Little Couple sat two rows in front of us.
It was cool to see them in person. Rumor has it they are building a home in our neighborhood. I have seen them in the grocery store too and they seem as gracious and lovely in real life as they do on the show.
Tomorrow after we get the boys off to their 1st day of school, Kate and I depart to meet Jen and Di (and their girls) for a week at the beach. I am SO EXCITED!!!! I have been blessed to become very, very close friends with them both in real life and I look forward to spending this time with them. They are amazing women. Jen and Di will be meeting in person for the first time and I am so thrilled for them to finally meet. I only wish our friend Denise could join us too (she had other plans).
Me and Di in 2008.
Dave might hijack the blog with updates about how "boys week" at home is going! I know that we girls will be taking TONS of photos but we might be too busy playing, corralling 5 girls, drinking wine and talking to post (none of us is ever at a loss for words). Check back soon!
And thank you honey for stepping up and taking care of the boys all week~especially with it being their first week of school! You are so incredible.
