Remember this post? I asked y'all what I should do about those dark wood built -ins. Well, I followed the advice y'all gave and I lived with them the way they were for a little while (exactly 3 months, 15 days, 6 hours and 37 minutes). But today and tomorrow they are being painted! I am both nervous and excited (really, nervous). I will post photos soon! Oh I hope I like it!
You get a peek of them in the back here. They will be sanded primed, plastered and painted for a smooth finish like all of the molding in our home.
Thanks for helping me decide on dinner tonight. That chili recipe really sounds delish. I have a great chili recipe but does not have basil in it. I bet the basil will add so much. I can't wait to try it out!
ReplyDeleteYour comment on my blog cracked me up...you're too funny! The lamps are from Anthropologie and I'm glad you LOVE LOVE LOVE the skirt...lol.
Yes we do live close to Dallas, which is a little late now, let me know the next time you are going and we can try to meet for dinner or go somewhere fun that the kids will enjoy!
Have a good one!
Kim
I think it will look gorgeous! I can't wait to see it painted!
ReplyDeleteThere going to look beautiful! Can't wait to see the pics.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how it looks - I think it will be good. Are you doing them white?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how it turns out! I am sure it will look great!
ReplyDeleteThe picture reminds me about your tv post a while back....how have you guys liked it above the fireplace? Did you get used to it?
Counting the mins...you are funny. They will look wonderful painted white.
ReplyDeleteThe Better Homes and Gardens cookbook is my favorite. :-)
i really think that is a good choice to have them painted. They look a bit out of place right now because they are so dark. I can't wait to see pictures!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you for the advice. I really value you opinion. I count you among my role models (mothers i would like to be more like). Desi is 4. I think we really stay on the course we are on unless the speech therapist says something to change our minds. Thank you again for reading my long post. It is really nice to know that thoughts on the subject were not totally baised just because i am his mom.
thanks again!

ReplyDeleteI think they will look great painted, and totally change up the room!
ReplyDeleteYou know I love the dark wood in that room but I think if you paint it, it might give you more the feel of the home you left and loved so much! What ever you do will be beautiful, you have a great sense of style.
ReplyDeleteI left my comment this morning on the wrong post...what was I thinking?...lol...I guess I wasn't.
I can't wait to see the finished results!
Kim
I have a feeling they will look FABULOUS!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it when they are done....I am sure it will be beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI was one that voted to leave it dark originally, but seeing your furniture in that room, I have to agree that the white will really look lovely!
Good luck:)

They'll be gorgeous painted! Can't wait to see pics, I'm sure it's going to look so different.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you one bit...if we move in to this house that we have under contract, all of the stained moldings and wainscoting will be painted white. I love color on my walls...not my trimwork! Can't wait to see the finished project!
ReplyDeletei think having them done to match the molding will look simply gorgeous
ReplyDeletexo
Oh I think they'll look really great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nerve-racking process, BUT they are going to look so stunning when they are done! It's funny, in the other photo (in the listing) I liked them natural. BUT I think they will look so much more like you when they are white! I cannot wait to see them! =)
ReplyDeleteI think they are going to look great painted!!
ReplyDeleteI really just need to know where you got the sign hanging on the fireplace??
ReplyDeleteThanks
Carol in cold FL
I'm with you on the painting. I think it will look fabulous. I'm all about painting trim white.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the built ins painted. Trying to decide what to do with the ones in my new house.
ReplyDeleteDon't be nervous...I'm sure it will look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the change! Although I do love the wood, I think it's going to look both classy AND larger once it's painted. It's win-win!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished product! Most of all, I hope you are pleased when it is all done!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I think that it will look great!! I can't wait to see the finished result.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Chesnye
Yes!!! yes!!! I think painting it will look beautiful and more uniformed (not sure if I wanted to use that word but you get what I mean). I think it will flow better with the white molding. Oh I can't wait to see it!!!!! Isn't it fun to change things : )
ReplyDeleteI need your help my friend. I try not to ask too often. But these babies need sponsors. Could you do a little plug for me? thank you
ReplyDeleteGood choice. I think it'll coordinate so nicely with that beautiful ceiling and those windows and make that end of the room look bigger.
ReplyDeleteGin =)
Can't wait to see how it turns out-I'm sure it will look wonderful!! Would love to see pics of Kate's new room too!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh You'll LOVE them!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is going to look wonderful so no worries. I loooovvveeee your coffered ceilings by the way!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I came across pixel fairy through your blog. So, I have you to thank as to how I ended up in her photography class. Debbie is truly amazing and with ease shares so much of her knowledge. You will love her heart too. Precious, much like yours that I see through your blog.
Congratulations on the decision to have the cases painted! Hope you have already enjoyed the weekend in your lighter family room. I am enjoying your practical decorating posts.
ReplyDeleteWould you share your ideas on displaying photographs and choosing how often to update or change out photos in the frames? I started to change most of our daughter's photos over Christmas and emptied the frames, but it seems a lot to manage. Right now we only have a few snapshots. I'm sure it will be overwhelming once she is home! How do you decide on your displayed photographs?
Thank you for all you share!
