Annual Talent Show

Monday, December 31, 2007
For the past three years, we have had an annual dinner/talent show with our very close friends. The kids all perform their talent and some of the adults do too (the talented ones--not me). I love that we celebrate the talents God has given our families. This year, the kids decided to dress in traditional Chinese attire in honor of Kate. Isn't that sweet?

Will and Harry (and Dave) performed magic shows. Will also did a few really great yo-yo tricks! Our friends children all played beautiful music on their gorgeous piano. Kate and I were supposed to do the chicken dance (she is quite good) but she decided to play her best piano piece instead. Well, I guess there is always next year because that is my only performance talent:)

If you put your cursor on a photo, there are captions.

Last night we had this family over for dinner. It was a lot of fun. So much fun that I forgot to take any pictures! Six boys playing Wii and air hockey in the basement. One little girl wandering around. And four parents talking, eating and drinking. Soon, there will be two little girls wandering around! We are glad to have these new friends.

  1. What fun to have a talent show. I think that's a wonderful idea. Love the photos (as always) and I am just getting to know the family you had over for dinner through their blog. They seem to be an incredible family.

  2. All of Kate's monogrammed dresses are precious! I adore monograms. Looks like you all had a lot of fun at dinner. Don't you love Wii? Have you played yet? We love playing Wii Sports as a family. The boys beat me every time!

  7. I have enjoyed seeing all of your holiday posts. You have a precious family. I so admire you and think it is wonderful how you teach your children to appreciate what they have. Kate is just precious. I love all of her beautiful outfits. I also love her little tea set. Isn't it fun having sweet tea parties with your daughter? Mallory and I love having tea parties. Happy New Year to you and your family.

  11. Hi Kim,

Happy New Year! I am trying to catch up on all my favorite blogs. It looks like you had a great Christmas with the kids. I know it was so special for you now that Kate is home.

Wishing you much happiness in 2008.

  13. I love the photo with Kate's little hands tickling the ivories ;) My niece played for us just yesterday...I walked down the aisle to Pachelbel's Canon and if I could have any talent in the world it would be to play that on the piano; to which you could accompany me by doing your chicken dance ;0

I must say one of the things that stood out for me was that beautiful chair with the GIGANTIC FLOWERS on it...do you by any chance know its provenance?

If so, do tell. I know, its a sickness with me, I even shop while looking at others' homes.

  15. I have been following your adorable blog for a long time now. I LOVE talent shows! We have had several for couples on Valentine's Day, and they are really fun. And my family has one every year at Christmas for the cousins! It just isn't Christmas for me, if I don't see my nephew Coleman do the "bellywave"! Your family warms my heart! And that dress of Kate's makes me giddy!

  16. Hey Kim,

Your header looks great but how did you get your picture to fit perfectly within the border? I have been trying to put pictures in and they either hang out of the border or they don't fill up the entire space. Another thing my pictures are so BIG and if I try to resize them then they are all stretched. Thanks so much for any help you can give me.

    Kim
