Harry has said some amazing things to me. Last month we were driving in the car and he said, "Mom, do you know half of the reason I believe in God?" I said, "No, tell me why."
He said, "Mom just look at this world. Do people think it just appeared out of thin air? God had to plan this and create it. How could anyone live here and not believe in God?"
Then I asked him his other half of reasoning for believing in God and he said, "Well part of it is because there has been so much written about him and millions of people pray to him everyday." I pressed on and said, "what is the other part?" He said, "Mom, I just know." Now that is faith.
Then, this week Harry came home from school and said, "Mom, I know who my guardian angels are." I responded, "Really. Tell me about them." He told me that he has two guardian angels. One is named Harry and he is an older man ("He is mostly bald like Dad.") and the other is a little boy named John. I asked Harry how he knew about his guardian angels. He said, "If you ask God really quietly in your heart, He will give you the answer." Oh, how wise he is.
Once when Harry was 2 or 3 we were driving in the car and he burst out, "Mom, I don't want our house to burn down." I said, "Our house isn't going to burn down. Why would you say that?" He just said he got a feeling. I got nervous and rushed home only to find a candle burning. I do not light candles very often (very scent sensitive) and I do not think that Harry saw that candle (I asked him). I think he was listening "really quietly in his heart." And I am glad he was. I am so blessed that Harry is my son. He is my little ray of sunshine.
I love how God can teach us/speak to us through our children! We can learn so much just by listening to them!
ReplyDeleteI am always so happy to see children developing their relationship with God. I do believe in guardian angels.
ReplyDeleteThis post choked me up. It is about the kind of faith only a child can possess. Jesus loved the little children.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. What a smart boy he is, and handsome to boot!
ReplyDeleteYou know how sweet I think your boys are, and how moved I was when Harry said his one wish would be to save his brother even if it meant that he would die.
ReplyDeleteHarry is such a sweet sweet boy, and I love his faith & kind heart.
Okay, Harry is amazing. Do you already see God has a special plan for this boy. Oh, what a blessed woman you are. Hang on to your shorts. He will ask you every question under the son and expect your answer to be in line with the Bible.

ReplyDeleteahh, out of the mouth of babes. What a blessing to have such faith...
ReplyDeleteChildren are closer to the Spirit than we realize. They are so in tune with things that we seem to overlook. He is a gorgeous boy, inside and out. You and your husband have done well! You encourage him and strengthen him. You are amazing examples of how to live a faith-based life.
ReplyDeleteHis wisdom is amazing. What a special, special little boy. I really feel children have so much to teach us! Thanks for sharing this sweet story!
ReplyDeleteYour Harry is a very special and insightful young man. If only we would all listen to God so closely all the time. I just love the faith he shared with all of us. Thank you for sharing this wonderful conversation.

What a little blessing young Harry is! If only we could be more like children. I can feel the joy in your heart as you write about your son's faith! Thank you for sharing such a special heart-story today!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! He is so smart and has faith because he is surrounded by that. Great kids aren't just born, they're made.
ReplyDeleteI, too, believe in angels. Harry must be very sensitive. I am so proud of him. Lots of kids are leary to tell to their parents about these things. Your family must be open and warm. Your kids
ReplyDeleteare lucky to have you; as you know how lucky you are to have them.

Oh Harry, how beautiful! Tell Harry that God says "I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me." Proverbs 8:17 What a wise young man.
ReplyDeleteHarry is such a special little guy. To know him is to fall in love with him. I love that he has such a close, deep relationship with God already. I am certain the Lord will work through him in mighty ways.
ReplyDeleteKim, what a sweet post about little Harry.
ReplyDeleteThat's the GREATEST thing he can ever possess.
Wow, that gives me chills! That is amazing.
ReplyDeleteChildlike faith! We all could learn from Harry. Just think how proud Jesus is of him!!! He is wise beyond his years. It gives me goosebumps thinking about how he can hear the Holy Spirit talking to him. Here's my verse for Harry today: "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1) Also one of my favorite adoption verses!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
