Kate's First Steps!

Sunday, July 22, 2007

Yes, today Miss Kate took her first step! I was blow drying my hair and Kate was in the bathroom imitating me with her maraca (she pretends it is her blow dryer). Then, I walked toward her and she took a step to me. I called Dave into the bathroom and she did it again! However, when we got the video camera, she went all "jelly legs" on us. I was very excited that Kate walked to me because both of the boys walked to Dave for the first time.

We had a great weekend. We went to the Richmond Zoo yesterday and had friends over for dinner tonight. I planned to post those photos (the zoo) but Kate walking was much more important! Also, I have had so much trouble in the past making videos but I found a new program on my computer (windows movie maker) that I did not have before. It just appeared and it was so easy!

  1. Oh my gosh how cute!! I'm surprised I'm so excited over someone else's baby taking her first steps! I loved the background voices: "could you guys keep it down a little" and " I'm gonna trip her..just kidding!" Maybe because I'm the mom of boys I zoned in on that! So typical! Loved the video!

  4. What a big week for the kids at your house! First Harry and his bike and now Kate is walking! I'm so glad she took her first steps to you! That video is SO cute. Harry is so cute trying to lift up Kate.

Glad you figured out how to make a movie on a PC! But if you really want to make a movie I think a Mac would make an excellent Christmas present, don't you? If you sent files to me I could always make a movie for you. I'd be happy to.

I remember when Ashton took his first steps, it's such a exciting time. It's amazing seeing them walk for the first time, then before you know it they're off and running.

  9. OMG~ Kim I felt like I was right there with you guys! Thanks so much for sharing ~ you will never know how much watching that means to me :D I think I watched it three times before commenting ~ no I am not crazy. Kate is just beautiful and what a wonderful big brother she has. Watching that made me fell how lucky you are to have her! It was a very bitter sweet moment before we travled to China when we got a update on LiLi and were told that she could climb stairs at 15 months old. It was the first time that I realized how much happens in that first year (or 16 months) of life that we missed. Seeing Kate walk brought tears to my eyes that you and Dave got to experience that wonderful moment! I am so happy for you :D

  21. Yeah Kate!!! This is exactly what Katie did. After about 4 days she was walking as the primary mode of transportation instead of the booty scoot that she was doing. Get yer tennis shoes on Kim, you will be chasing after her very soon!
    God Bless,

  26. Okay, that made me cry! Soooo sweet! Kate is such an adorable little walker, and I love love love the footage of her walking to her big brother. He put his arms out, and it almost looked like she put her arms out as if to say, "No... you walk to ME!" :)
